Saw LLMD yesterday for first time. Thank you for the info that got me to him!!!
Based on previously completed blood work, he believes that I have babs, possibly bart and a somewhat rare co-infection related to a high Epstein-Barr Igg response.
There was sooo much info given and discussed with me yesterday that I cannot remember the name of the co-infection related to Epstein-Barr.
Do any of you know it?
He said he rarely sees it, but ticks can carry this too.
Good news is that I don't have FM.
I begin new meds today for Babs. My LLMD said I should feel much better soon as he thinks I have only had Lyme since July.
I think I am going out to buy one of those med boxes to keep pills straight as I will be taking about 15 a day along with B-12 shots.
Thanks for any info. Geneal

Please let me know also-had a very high IGG for epstein barr as well. I thought that indicated a past infection?

Likewise, my LLMDs didn't think much of my Epstine-Barr titers. I had mono a few years back, in fact thats what caused me to start feeling "not alright". I never quite got over the mono, and so we were looking for reasons why for a couple of years, until we found lyme.
EBV and to a lesser extent CMV are present in a large percentage of the population, but only if they are active (High IGM I think) do they really pose a problem. Basicallly, it just means you have been exposed.

My son also has a very high EBV. His llmd says that it is really common among lyme patients.
We are very interested also, as to a new co-infection related to EBV.
What meds did your llmd put you on if you dont mind us asking?
So very glad your on your way to feeling better! ~Ma

Hi all.
Let me see if I can get this straight.
Maybe it is the Igm of the Epstein Barr. I am sorry but I tested high on both Igg and Igm.
If I remember correctly (and my lyme brain may be wrong), the Igg is suggestive of past infection. LLMD says everybody tests positive for that esp. if you are an adult.
It was the Igm that may have been suggestive of a rarely seen co-infection.
I hope I don't have that backwards. I cannot remember what exactly the co-infection was...
I've been told to stop doxy. Today I started Diflucan 100 mg x 2 daily.
I am also on minocycline 100 mg one every morning and two at night.
I am also on malarone 250/100 four times dailey.
Additionally rec'd vitamin b-12 via injection at 3 cc twice a week.
Also will be taking magnesium, acidophilus, vitamin c up to 8000 per day especially during a herx.
Also on Sam=G.L.A. which is a marine lipid concentrate and evening primrose.
I had to go buy a pill box. Whew! Have next appt. on Dec. 20 at which time I will be sure to ask about the epstein=barr co-infection.
Thanks for wishing me well. My LLMD actually had Lyme....Nothing like someone who can actually take a walk in my shoes.
Sincerely, Geneal

That is about the most common virus you can get. Igg shows past exposure and 99% of the population carries it. It can become re-activated when you have Lyme and show current IgM titers which are active. EBV goes back to being dormant once you treat the Lyme and co-infections. Many people think that EBV is what causes CFS, etc. Usually untreated bacterial infections like Lyme bring them out. EBV is by no means rare though! Its the virus that causes mononucleosis. An immune boost may be a good idea with Echinacea or Reshi, email me I have the protocol! :-)
