Does anybody know anything about the quality of NSI (Nutraceutical Sciences Institute) supplements?
I discovered a capsule of DHEA I have of theirs was only half-filled. I'm wondering if this is random, or if people have noticed similar quality issues with them.

I get NSI's on a regular basis for some products & haven't noticed a difference in quality. And am pretty happy overall with their supps.
Maybe you could e-mail vitacost? or NSI & tell them your problem with the capsule.

I use them also. The problem is that in dietary supplements, no one is checking on quality. Didn't Consumer Reports get involved in some testing? Have a vague recollection of this.

One bad experience with their unflavored magnesium powder. Just sent it back. It came in the same size container as "Peter Gillhams's Natural Calm" and had the same dosage and nunber of servings
The problems were multi. First being that it was flavored with lemon and stevia. I could smell it the minute I opened the container.
No matter how long I stirred it after adding the hot water it would not completely disolve. There was still a grainy quality to it.
The container was only half full but had the same weight as the name brand. The amound of serving in the container were just about half of what the label said.
There is no way to get the same amount of tsps out of half the volume with the same weight.
Looks like they made the product and then just copied the neme brand label except they did add the additional ingredients the added.
I called and they sent ups to pick it up and no cost to me and are going to refund my money.
That being said I also just ordered their vegetarian digestive enzymes cuz I can get the other product I have been using for several years.
Havnt tried them yet and have no idea how to tell if they are just as functional.

Their benfothiamine:
I had a suspicious feeling when I opened it.
Smelled reeaal bad, not at all like the name brand.
Decided to toss it, and go back to the name brand.
They appear to have a marketing label style that makes it look "scientific". That, too, makes me suspicious. I just dont need anything else to worry about at this point!

I've been taking their stuff for years. The vegetarian enzymes work fine. Their Cardio-Lift multi-vitamins w/mins. is the best heart formula we've found for the money.
The ony problem I had was their probiotic, which did not have a high enough number of live organisms in it.
I switched to NOW brand from iherb.com for awhile and had awful problems with their tablets crumbling to pieces, smelling, and staining things.
Do I wonder if their products really contain what they say they do? You bet! I wonder that about all the supplements I buy, no matter what company they are from. I would love to see required standardization and inspection, but without restrictions on sale of the items, which always seems to be tied in with it.
We only have two LLMD's left in our area, and one of them uses NSI products exclusively. However, the doctor in charge at NSI is his FIL.

P.S. Aniek - I am taking NSI Dhea right now and it is working. My sex drive is back for the first time in 20 years. However, I wish it would help me handle stress better....that is why I'm taking it, not to get horny! Posts: 1269 | From Clearwater, Florida, USA | Registered: May 2004

Hadnt had a problem. Potency seems good to me.
Their acetyl l carnitine/ Alpha lipoic acid combo gave me terrible heartburn.
Maybee this meant that it was more potent?
