I'm seeing my LLMD on 12/4 and will be starting Ketek. But first I have to have an EKG. Is this stuff that dangerous? If so, maybe I should try something else. Have already tried Doxy, Omnicef, and Tinidozole. If Ketek works quickly, that's fine, but it doesn't sound like one you would want to be on a long time and I've read that it can take years on antibiotics to get things under control.

I just started on ketek. My llmd asked if I had had any cardiac tests in the last year and I had.
If you read the insert, in some people with heart conditions it is not wise to take it.
Don't really know much about it. If you don't hear from me, make sure you let people know I am taking ketek.
I am on my 4th dose of it and today I started feeling better, (considering I have felt like crap for the last 2 months)
Not sure it is the ketek or ceftin (just started that, too). All I care is I had a great day today and accomplished alot.
Ask all the questions you can.
Take care, karen

Please do a search about Ketek, not just on Lymenet but also on Google or Wall Street Journal online and see all the FDA warnings and discussion about how the safety studies were fraudulent.
I am one of those that sustained severe liver damage.
Ketek can also affect the Q-T interval of the heart.
I also know one Lyme patient whose vision has been affected for two years post-Ketek.
For some it is very helpful medication, but you must be very frequently and diligently monitored. I was yet the damage happened very quickly.
