(headline)Feds Target Health Care Provider For Fraud

(last paragraph)Omnicare Has Agreed To Pay $100 Million In Last Two Months To Settle Medicare Fraud Cases In 42 States

gee...how much doxy does $100 million buy???

How big of a rip-off is it? Estimates are that up to 10 percent of government spending on Medicaid and Medicare is lost to fraud every year. That's about $50 billion of your tax dollars.

I heard a discussion on NPR about the ethics and problems of researchers taking money and perks from pharma companies.

I've been searching for it and can't find it. Too bad, it was a good one.

Does anybody have any hints for finding NPR transcripts? This has befuddled me before. I'll have to start writing down when I hear these things!

Anyway, this and the NPR piece I heard and the senior scientist at the NIH... could all of this indicate a snowball effect?

An understanding of the ripeness of this situation for independent investigation and research?

I sure hope so; it can only be a matter of time before the lid is blown off!
