Pigwit, they may have bioengineered some strain of it (who knows) but not this one. They can't even culture it yet unless they use tick guts.

I just came across a news story that the Navy wants to test a blood substitute on civilian trauma patients without informed consent.

The plan is currently on hold. You can find the article at http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/health/2003478595_blood15.html

The substitute is derived from cow blood. It seems like lots of things could go wrong.
