it started last night between 11-12 pm last night; so it's been 24 hrs. for me to be able to access this again...disgusting.
i liked it around 2 weeks ago TOBY put up a message saying the system was down, and try back later; at least we were informed of something.

Why does it only happen to this site?

So, if it happens again, who can we email to? If you can't get on the site, you can't tell anyone!
Is there a trouble-shooting hotline email address?

Yes, difficulty accessing the site. Wonder why?
Maybe if all members chip in a couple of bucks each, we can buy Lymenet a new computer server to host the site?

It's been busted off and on all day....I lost track of the posts I wanted to answer. It's a new server, so that's not the problem..

Yep, it's still messed up. It took me 3 tries just to get on this thread so I could post.

I could get on from one computer but not from another. Then, I could get on from both. Then the other stopped connecting again...
What a bummer...
But I am home now and can get on! Posts: 240 | From MA | Registered: Nov 2006

The site is essentially unusable right now.
The server is SO slow I can go get a cuppa coffee waiting for a screen to appear and it's STILL not there when I get back.
Or it might be NOT FOUND.
I guess after days and days of this, it would be nice to know what's going on.
Sigh.

email jenifer! see the top post above saying she is taking over for lou b!
tom is the technie here but i don't have email for him!
lymenet members need to unite, and email jenifer galore and/or her Dad, Bill Stolowe:
we can't just be left out here in the dark not knowing what is going on.
my suggestion of ONE EMAIL TO ALL like she did the fund-raising email would advise all what is going on, what to expect, etc.
i'm also disappointed in the 3-5 requests i've made of jenifer NOT TO SHOW HOW MUCH $$$ WAS COLLECTED THIS YEAR THRU FUNDRAISER AND BY HOW MANY MEMBERS!?

The problem may not be with Lymenet. My guess is that there has been a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) or DoS which is blocking access to the site for legitimate users.
CafePress is having similar problems, and here is how they describe this kind of attack:
<< A DDoS attack prevents access to a web site by its users. You can compare this to 500 people trying to enter a retail store through the same door at the exact same moment. This congestion prevents consistent and easy flow of traffic to the site. >>

One time that I couldn't get LymeNet, I tried pinging the site, and the server was down.

I would like to take this moment to apologize for any of the connectivity issues that have been plaguing LymeNet this week.
I have been told that our Internet Service Provider has been having issues on its end, which could be the major cause of the problems facing LymeNet. We are looking into this and hope to have an answer/solution soon.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.
