So, the ringing in the ears became deafening and the headaches bad and the dizziness daunting and the thoughts in my head were echoey and my children's sweet voices sounded like buzz saws.
I couldn't take it any more so I stopped the Zithromax. 30% improvement, but now I'm waking up at 5 a.m. with big anxiety attacks and the depressive thinking is overwhelming.
Sometimes this depressive stuff slams me so that it feels physical. Now the myalgia body aches are back and the weakness and getting overwhelmed and crying are back too.
I am so afraid of winding up demented with Alz symptoms like my mom. It's so hard on the family and I don't want my kids to ever experience that with me!
My LLMD suggested taking a little break or cutting Zith dose in half through the holidays and then starting Doxy in January.
I'm scared to take the Zith now. Has it damaged my ears forever or do you bounce back?
If I'm on nothing for two weeks will the ketes just take over?
This brain stuff is scaring the stuffing out of me. Can't stop crying. Think I'm flooding y'all with my zooey thoughts.

You both need to get something for the depression you are experiencing at present till the lyme gets more under control.
I take lexapro which has help me with both anxiety and depression...as lyme does shift his little personalities on us...
Hang in there in the meantime...
don't worry about getting sicker cuz you're not on abx...the little critters will multiply anyway every 28 days or so... and actually if you're not on any abx they will be easier to kill the next time you get on something cuz they will not have built up an immunity to anything...

I agree with zman. I can be fine one day and then the next day I am a mess. I have been there several times. When you've been sick for a while and your body is doing and feeling things that aren't normal, it is easy to get depressed and anxious.
My doctor put me on zoloft, it has helped. I am also on xanax for anxiety, which has really helped, especially at bed time.
Remember that everyone reacts differently to medicines, so if you feel one isn't working for you, be sure to tell your doctor and maybe they would try something else.

taking a break from abx when you are herxing or feeling like the symptoms are overwhelming is TOTALLY ALLOWED.
Allow yourself a break. Keep taking your probiotics religiously though.
I am not a doctor, but i know that if you go too fast you can do more damamge than good.
slow and steady wins this race...no need to push yourself to insanity over the holidays.

My emotional liability, depression and anxiety came from Babesia.
As far as ringing in the ears, my ears have rang so long I can't remember when it started? I took a whole lot of aspirin over the years though, that probably didn't help.
My ear ringing did get worse while taking Zithromax and Malarone; I would get an earache too.
I'm glad you talked with your LLMD, I sure hope these symptoms get better for you.
Hang in there.

I had just posted yesterday about the side effects of Zithro IV. Not only was a bit shakey but I have not been able to stop crying for days. Everything is making me so depressed and anxious.
I am on Wellbutrin, so maybe I need something for the anxiety, that is pretty bad too.
Thank for posting.

Thank you one and all for your responses. i would have responded sooner but I couldn't get on the site for nearly three days! I hate it when this site/lifeline is down!
I am taking a true abx break that I hope will get me through to the New Year. I am amazed that the nightmares and depressive thinking was gone two days after stopping the Zithromax... so was the ear-ringing and pain.
I can't help wondering if the Zith caused me to herx or if I just can't take meds for longer than 3 1/2 months before I reach a cumulative level that is too hard for me. Or do I just not do well with Zithromax?
I am researching antidepressants. I don't have an easy time on them, so I hope to avoid them if at all possible.
In the meantime, I can think much more clearly and plan to enjoy the kids and the holidays until the next drug...
I wish you all well with great holidays,

I'm on Prozac for the depression and Xanax for anxiety, I am really sorry to hear you are dealing with these symptoms too. Many of us are no or have been where you are now . It often takes a few tries to find the right meds too. But any MD can prescribe them For instance I do not have coverage for Psychiatric care but do have medical so I get my MD to prescribe- she is happy to help. She has seen me burst into tears at the drop of a hat many times.heck I actually hit another slow to turn .. car because of rage ( he just would not go)frustrated my foot took over and I bumped him anyway meds can go along way to helping us till our brains become more balanced . Merry Christmas Sandi
