My first incident of lyme was helped trememdously by listening to subliminal messages in taped music. Whether it was the message in the music, or my belief that it was helping was not important. Now I have XM in my car and I wouldn't travel anywhere without my music!

Indeed. One of the bizarre things about lyme/antibiotic treatment is that I have gotten my love of music back.
This station has been rocking the house all day -- streaming on-line and highly recommended for their x-mas program today!

When I was first diagnosed with Lyme, I couldn't listen to music at all. I seemed to have auditory distortion that made even the most beautiful music seem grating and awful.
Thankfully, that's changed with treatment, and now I love downloading itunes, making cds. Santa even brought me a dock and stereo player for my ipod...plus headphones
I'd missed out on a lot of music, and it's been great to catch up and also to have this way of accommodating my very eclectic musical taste, which runs the gamut from rock to indie, to classical and to country.
But I didn't know about itunes radio...so thanks for telling us about that, Jay!

Music was one of the first things I noticed that helped my brain heal. When I was the sickest, I couldnt listen to any music, even though I love music and played in different bands. I couldnt go a day without music, ...till lyme hit. But once I started to heal, the music became almost a part of my healing regiment. I could listen to headphones, and listerally feel my brain come alive and move (likely blood flow, nerves awakening, etc.)
Id recommened different kinds of music for different moods. To mellow (classical, easy listening, celtic, soft rock ballads, nature sounds, yoga music). To counter act depression/anxiety (hard rock, uplifting power metal, music from your teen years). You can setup play lists on your mp3, ipod, pc (media player), or listen to internet radio (Pandora, yahoo music)
Whats interesting about music is Ive been able to consistently trade in anxiety/depression for feeling better by listening to music...but...the downside is always a headache afterwards. But then I can counter the headache with ice packs, anti inflammatories, and other methods.
