hello all..

i have a question..on christmas eve i came down with terrible nausea and exhaustion..

when i laid down, about an hour later..i woke up with a temp of 102 and my head was burning up..but the rest of my body was shaking with chills.. i was

so cold i had to take a hot shower to balance my temperature, but had to sit down cause i was so nauseaus..i feel like i have to be laying down all the time or i will puke.. [puke]

ive been sick for 3-4 days now..fever broke on day 2 but i was wondering if this was a stomach flu or a lyme relapse?? can the flu trigger a relapse??

im nervous because i was so sick 4 mos back and i really do not want to go back there..or start having lyme GI problems..

how does lyme GI present itself??

during the last 3-4 days..i have also had horrible stomach cramping that seems to wax and wane, diarrhea, and a knot it feels like in my lower abodoman.

any advice or opinions would be very much appreciated....

Hi Hope

I've had the same exact thing you described this week. Not only was I vomiting and sooooo nauseous, the muscle, joint and bone aches and pains were so severe. I am used to high pain levels for arthritis, but this was so different and so intense. I believe I have a stomach virus. It took about 4 days to subside.

Then just for fun, it turned into a nice head and chest cold. I was due to have my Picc line placed and my first IV treatment on 12/26. My doctor recommended that I wait until I was better.

I don't think I could have handled laying still enough without jumping up to run to the bathroom. I'm sure I would have grossed out the Picc folks.

So, once again I am sick. But I think it's whatever is going around and not particularly Lyme related. I think having Lyme lowers my resistance for fighting it off sooner, that's all.

Have a happy and healthy New Year. I can't wait for 2007. Because 1987 to 2006, have sucked.

Nineteen years without treatment. Cranky and miserable, but ready to start IV antibiotic therapy. Please pray for me, as I am very sick.

with that suddent onset, if it happened to me or someone I knew I would say flu. There is a nasty flu bug going around for the last few weeks.

I would ride it out for a few days to see what happens.

Hello!

The flu, aka influenza, does not attack your GI tract. "Stomach Flu" is a mismomer. It could be another virus, but doesn't sound like the flu.

Are you still having symptoms? Viruses are usually short lived.

Hope you are better!
