Hi Lyme Friends

I was supposed to start IV doxy on 12/26, but due to an acute illness, it's been postponed.

I've been reading about IV vitamin C. I even have doctors nearby that do it. Has anyone out there in LymeLand done this treatment? Please give me some feedback. I'm open to suggestions. I don't look forward to IV antibiotics.

Nineteen years without treatment. Cranky and miserable, but ready to start IV antibiotic therapy. Please pray for me, as I am very sick.

I have had numerous high dose Vit C IVs, and I have found them very very helpful. You can feel that it gives your immune system a big boost. I started at a rather low dose (about 5g I think) and have worked up to 40g. I would advise this, as you may be surprised at the size of the herx you can get from C. They follow up the C with a small dose of minerals and glutatione. I feel completely wiped out the day I get the treatment, and then have about 2 or 3 days of herx. I don't think that it is sufficient on its own (absent abx), but it is definitely worth the money if you can find a doc who prescribes it. Good luck.

Thanks for your input. Are you saying I should do the IV doxy AND the IV Vitamin C? I wasn't real clear on that.

I have major brain fog. Also, just HOW bad is herxing. What am I going to feel like?

Hi brothers6,

I have done the IV Vit C, I can't remember actual dosage though. I did it for mercury detox, not lyme, but overall it did help me to feel better. I did not mix it with abx treatment.

However, my vein did not like it, it hurt the whole time I sat there, about an hour and a half. And my vein hurt the next day also.
Now, I take powdered Vit C in with my whey protien shakes and it does help me to reduce inflamation and pain levels.

I did feel bad the next day, but I am not sure if it was mercury detox, actual herx or maybe both. I had a headache, my eyes were very sensitive to the light, and some numbness. Vit C can probably kill yeast/ mold, so I don't really know if it did anything for the lyme. Just my 2 cents worth.

Trina:

I have not been on any IV abx therapy (only oral) so I cannot speak to this. I have been on various oral abx for 18 months, and have had C infusions all along. I can't tell you what kind of herx you will get from C, or from abx for that matter. It all depends on your pathogen load and your own immune system, as with everything. I would just encourage you to start with a low dose (perhaps a Meyers' push, which I think is about 3 grams of C plus minerals). Speak with your doc about what he/she thinks is appropriate.

I would say don't start any 2 treatments at the same time so you can isolate what is having which effect on you.

In terms of vein problems, I have not had any in general. You do have to be careful to allow veins a little time to "rest", so don't pick the same one repeatedly. If you do get aching during the infusion, you can always slow it down.

This is not medical advice, just a note on my experience.

Good luck!
