Hi, I'm just starting today to take the orals after my IV treatment.

The shame is, I felt better on IV but had to stop. I started the pills last week and herxed badly, so I stopped for the holidays.

Now I'm ready to start again. The pain is bad so I can't let the spirochetes do me in fully, right?

Anyway, I'm on Biaxin xl (2 tabs 500mg once a day) PLUS Cefuroxime/Ceftin (1 500mg tab twice a day).

My doc said these should attack both the lyme and coinfections. But I wonder if this protocol has worked for anyone else?

I also wonder if I should ask her about bactrim that I've read so much about here recently?

[confused]

Any advice or experience on either is so appreciated. My doc isn't an LLMD, but is learning along with me. She is open to new ideas once she investigates them for me.

Hi TPH

Bactrim DS really helped me with Babs--

It worked almost as good as Mepron--
WAY WAY cheaper too --

Bactrim DS made me herx Big time--
was worth it tho --

It is Best to attack co infection
at perty much the time as Lyme--

Maybe get bactria load down alittle first-
so herxes are not as bad--

I have not used ceftin so I cant
comment on it--

Biaxian is Very Good- Lyme-

If you have babs you also want to
take Artemisinin --
It is Important-- Jay--

I also had babesia, amd also found artimesia anua (and its derivative, artimisinin) very effective. Idid take atovaquone, to, but I couldn't mess around I lost my spleen in an injury, which makes babesia very dangerous.

Before I started artimesia and atovaquone, I had abx courses that included both cefuroxime axefil ('ceftin') AND clarithromycin ('biaxin')! (not together, though they were both combined with another abx) Thus, I DON'T think you can count on these to help much with babesia!

It may be good to reduce your lyme load a bit before you go after babs, though I will say, that after we nailed the babs, the lyme was toast! Always be ready for new info, and keep learning. Ask your doc any questions, too-- I don't think that can possibly hurt!

Best Wishes, DaveS

I also herx'd very strong on this regimen but didn't respond as quickly as I would have hoped. After the summer, I switched to tetracycline solely which has given me the best response yet. I'm a big fan of tetracycline for Bb.

Hi,

I was taking biaxin with other abx. But never with ceftin.

I just started ceftin about 3 weeks ago, along with art. I just upped my art to 2 100mg tabs daily. I only took 100 mg a day for two weeks at first. I also just started ( 2 days ago) samento 1 dropperful daily.

This, along with nytatin, thyroid, astragulus, oramune max, vitamin b, vitamin a, etc.

I also have babs. I did buy the mangosteen juice. I have been waiting for herx but I haven't gotten one, at least not a bad one.

I'm not sure that combo would work on babs though.

when I was on biaxin, I also took malarone, and plaquenil.

With me it's just a wait and see. Sorry to ramble

karen
