Hi, does anybody know if GETTING pregnant while on doxy is ok?

I know it is contraindicated in pregnancy, but what if baby is CONCEIVED while the mother is on doxy, and then she goes off of it immediately when she suspects that she is pregnant?

This is something that I cannot seem to find info on anywhere. I am sure that many women have become pregnant during a course of therapy on doxy... the question is: What do they do?

I think this needs to be discussed with your doctor. The only two things I know for sure is 1.
Tetracyclene family abx are bad for teeth of developing fetuses. 2. Treatment is necessary so baby isn't necessarily born with lyme infection. I would call doctor immediately. And find a lyme ob-gyn, even if it meant traveling cuz there isn't one close by.

Luvdogs, definitely, speak with your llmd right away.

There is also information on the internet about classification of abx (and all drugs) in regards to their classifications of risk for pregnancy.

I have heard about women on amoxicillin while pregnant and needing lyme treatment.

best wishes, VL

Thanks you guys - don't worry, I am not pregnant. But I will be on IV doxy for a while and am curious if I were to get pregnant while on it. I will talk with my doc more...
