I read some interesting information about a woman with manganese toxicity who had Parkinson's like symptoms. Researchers discovered that a substance called PAS or sodium para-aminosalicylic acid reversed her neurological symptoms. PAS is used to treat TB.
Could this be used to help antibiotics cross the blood brain barrier in some way or reverse neuronal cell loss and demyelination from Lyme disease? Silly stretch or could this be possible?
Check out Dr. Wei Zheng's website with lots of info on the blood brain barrier. He's interested in neurotoxicology of the BBB and the role of the blood brain barrier in etiology of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Maybe this guy needs to be sent some info about Lyme and he could help shed a little light on the subject with some fabulous research!
Maybe we just haven't found the right lyme researcher yet and the answer is out there already but the pieces of the puzzle just need to be put together.
Ok, can you tell I am feeling desperate?

Interesting idea. Why don't you send him something? You never know what will spark someone's interest. These days, though, it usually involves needing research funding. There is a group that is funding some lyme projects, was a call for proposals a while back. (The national tickborne disease research foundation, or some such name. These are not huge amounts but maybe enough to get someone started.)
You have a lot of company in that desperate feeling.

Great idea to contact Dr. Zheng with that question. Whatever encourages biomedical researchers like Zheng to think about lyme disease and its implications and tie-ins with their research is a good thing, IMHO.
