I am going through a LD relapse and am taking bicillin shots on Tuesdays. This past Friday, I came down with a bad cold with chills/body aches/fever. Perhaps the flu, perhaps a virus, who knows.
Usually when I get my shots, I feel better, lymewise, within 6-8 hours. This time I'm not feeling better and I can't seem to stop crying. I am terrified that $$$$ IV abx is in my future, as well as short term disability. It is overwhelming.
If you get the flu or another virus, can it make the LD worse, and perhaps make the treatment less effective?
Thank you.

I can't answer your questions but I've had a similar experience with abx treatment and viruses. I was sick for a month with what appeared to be some viral reactivation.
My LLMD said that I have a lot of dormant viruses via some testing we did and that viruses can be re-activated when killing lyme.
Talk to your LLMD for recommendations on how to keep viruses down while treating lyme. Mine suggested that I use olive leaf extract. I couldn't use that so he put me on valtrex. I can't take that either unfortunately so I'm sure we'll address the issue again in my next appointment.
In the meantime, I'm using LarreaRX. Monolaurin is also another OTC supplement that can be used for certain viruses. I also use a rife machine and I find the zapper to be particuarly effective for viruses (especially cold type viruses) so I plan to use that a couple of times a week. But again, be sure to talk to your LLMD about it. Terry

yes you can get flu(viruses) they are different from bacteria, and are not killed by bacteria. also dormant viruses everybody has that sit in the nerve endings can reactivate under physical or emotional stress. these are herpes, ebv, and several others.
antivirals should be taken for a wek to 10 days if viral in suspected.

That is contrary to what my LLMD has advised me which is why I would suggest you talk to your LLMD about it. I am not a doctor and just wanted to relay my own experience in case it was helpful. Terry
