as ive mentioned before i am igenex positive. My llmd tested me for coinfections...NONE. I was really suprised. mY CD57 IS normal but in the LOW normal range. 80
i AM extremely ill. Been tested for EVERYTHING. Been thrown in the CFS bucket by my regulard doc.
My llmd gave me an rx for doxy and after a couple weeks to add in biaxin i think its called.
my question is do COINFECTIONS come out after treatment starts?? Or if i have tested negative for them.....then i should trust that? Does not having any mean i may not actually have Lyme!?
thank you

Hi,
After I was treated two years for Lyme my Babesia infection came out. I was sort of standing still, but certian symptoms got worse. When I was treated for Babs I made a whole lot of improvement.
For me, I think it was very hard to see what symptoms were caused by what infection in the very beginning. I was way too sick to start with.
Co-infection testing is pretty much the same as lyme testing, the tests are not 100% accurate. So lyme is a clinical diagnosis and so are the co-infections. My son is being treated for Babesia and he has a negative test, but he has a lot of the same symptoms as me.
hope this helps.

It seems that co-infections often appear after treatment begins. Do they always appear? I am not sure about that.
The tests are not always reliable for co-infections. I have heard that only two strains of babesia are tested for.
Does not having co-infections mean that you don't have lyme? If the test showed lyme, than it would probably be best to rely on that and act accordingly.
This is a nerve-racking illness. Things can shift and change.
Best wishes,
Claire

I have not taken doxy, so I am not sure. Maybe someone else will soon respond.
Another thought to add... you might try to keep a diary or even a calendar to jot down your symptoms/sensations before treatment, during and after. It is true that things kind of run together in the beginning. This can really help keep track of symptoms and helps to determine if there are any patterns. Also, note when you start or stop a particular med or supplement, etc. At the very least, this can help give us something to do with our anxiety. And don't stop asking questions.

Yes, they do. My bartonella was 4 months into treatment before a positive blood test and Babesia was more like 8. In fact, Babesia only showed in blood after treating with Mepron based on EAV results which was enough for me to get my doctor to start treating with my clinical symptoms.
I would also consider metals, parasites, and mycoplasma.
