I read just the other day about an actress in the movie or show(?) Sopranos. She was at one time paralized from the waste down due to Lyme disease.
I can't find the article that I thought I bookmarked. It was very recent. Anyone feel like searching?
I'm going to take a nap. Major headache today. Sharp sharp pain. Ouch.

The Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn DiScala, 23, revealed that she suffers from severe migraines as well as attention deficit disorder. The actress says she is being treated with medication and attributes her conditions to a tick bite that gave her Lyme disease six years ago.

Sounds like the paralysis was tick paralysis, not Lyme. Tick paraylsis can occur while a tick is attached and feeding. It stops when the tick is removed.
It is not Lyme disease, but obviously, the tick could easily have given her Lyme during the feeding. Hence the current symptoms.

She wrote a book about her experience and mentioned her struggles with Lyme Disease.
She has had an eating disorder and is a spokesperson for a foundation for the recognition and treatment of eating disorders.
I wished that she would be a spokesperson for Lyme disease considering it could be what contributed to the eating disorder in the first place.

I read an article about her struggle with Lyme, unfortunately I did not keep it.
From what I recall, she did have paralysis, was treated with IV antibiotics, and seemed to recover.
I'm guessing she must have gotten an accurate diagnosis pretty quickly.

It is possible to get a paralytic condition w/Lyme disease. I had it myself before I was diagnosed and treated. It started w/numbness of my left hand. I'd have to "work" my fingers for a while to get them moving. Later it was both hands, then a leg...the worst was when I woke up and couldn't move anything. I almost thought I was dead. In fact, I almost thought I had an out of body experience, and saw myself lying in bed. I could barely breathe. My chest wall felt like it couldn't inspire/expire properly. Paramedics were called and had to carry me out to the van and to the ER. That was the single most frightening symptom I ever had...and was the thing that made me give up on my ducks and google my sx.
The rest is history. I learned about Lyme disease, found a good LLMD, since my previous ducks wouldn't take me seriously, and now, going on 1.5 years of abx later, I'm much improved, although not completely well.

The reason I said tick paralysis was that imanurse said she was paralyzed from the waist down. Tick paralysis moves up from the bottom extremeties.
I didn't mean to say she didn't have Lyme. I worded that wrong. I meant the paralysis may have been from tick paralysis during the feeding, and that she also got Lyme from the tick.

Does anyone know the name of the book and where I can get it. There is someone I know with an eating disorder and Lyme. I never thought that maybe they could be linked.

So Jamie was Meadow Soprano. Wow! One of my all time favorite TV series. The last 9 episodes are starting this month on HBO. I will record them on DVD. Meadow was a favorite character. I hope she is still on the show..
Amazon has some interesting reviews about "Wise Girl". Amazon has it from $.49(used) to $10(new).
The one thing that stands out is Jamie starts out with an eating disorder (bulimia). Then she comes down with lyme.
Poor or lack of nutrition, weakens the immune system.. Lyme hit first.
Plus it is interesting that she mentions Fox. The actor with MS. He is Canadian and probably his MS is really Lyme...
I still say that: A low natural fat diet will Kill you.
Eat lots of eggs cooked in coconut oil...
