yeah, yeah, we have had a few lately and most of us are TAXED. but please remember, this is allot better than having NO ACTION LEFT TO TAKE.
this is, in fact, a critical OPPORTUNITY. don't miss it.
please push hard everyone. i'm very worried that the time of year and other pressures will overshadow probably the most critical action we have faced to date.
this is a drop everything moment.
i will be, and i assure you our current circumstances at home would make your head spin.
please, please, please just go. don't even think about not going.
why not?? let's go through it: work? it will be there when you get back. children's access to treatment may well will not be if you aren't there. you are too ill?? so are they. they will have noone if they loose jones. the weather is too rough?? tell that to a child who is suffering. you think it won't help?? well, it won't if you don't go. you are too overwhelmed?? what do you think a child feels like. they CANNOT fight, we can. we can.
if you absolutely, absolutely cannot go to hearing, do something EQUALLY powerful in raising awareness and media attention, sponsor another, encourage someone else.
ACT.
if we do not, we will be seeing the dreaded thread that states:
"what the h@ll happened, and what the h@ll do these children do now?"
THINK OF THEM. FIGHT FOR THEM. IMAGINE THEM WITHOUT CARE.
c'mon, it isn't hard for any of you, no matter your treatment choice or circumstances -- to imagine a child living with chronic, daily pain, a child who cannot think straight and doen't know why, who is constantly confused, who cannot function in the day to day, who has trouble seeing, breathing, who is allergic to everything - a child with chronic migraines, who cannot run, who is failing in school because they are ill.. can't write from the pain in their joints, and/or the lack of blood to their brain.
a child who has anorexia, has rages, who has dark circles and cannot sleep at night.
a child who says things to Doc J like (and i quote) "mommy, i can't help it, i have bugs in my brain!" just after tearing up a room.
a child who has the chance to sit on this man's lap, and hear about what is going on. having a doctor tell them what they already know and feel, but can't express.. and a staff that loves them like their own. makes them feel special, makes them feel they can get well.
jones and his staff know these kids down to their interests and hobbies -- kiss and hug them and offer them HOPE AND CARE, advocacy in school, and these kids feel that no where else. jones and his staff have devoted their lives twelve hours plus, seven days a week, for decades to their care.
imagine not having the reference and CT phone number to give anymore to the two year old having seizures - the four year old who can't see, the fifteen year old who suffers from chronic pain and dymentia???
TO DATE, they have had a doctor who will TREAT THEM. identifies and documents the cause of their pain, AND GETS MANY OF THEM WELL.
moreover: THESE KIDS HAVE HAD ACCESS TO THIS CARE FOR Y E A R S !!!!!! are you going to let this be lost the whims of estranged spouses and a corrupt medical system??
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!
they have no real BASIS to take jones' liscence away, but they will simply because of conflict of interest coupled with the fact that they CAN. well, my freinds, they CAN'T if we show and therefore demand them to come up with a reason as to WHY.
which they can't. our showing is critical to thier accountability. it's that simple. jones is right. he is brilliant, and he knows the key to his winning (and the children's access to continued treatment) is our attendance.
DON'T stand by and watch that be taken away. you are witness to this atrocity just by reading this thread.
if we fight now, other doctors can and will follow and many may well begin to TREAT. they are watching what happens here, they know these kids are suffering and some of them actually want to help. the groundwork has been laid, and it is the medical board who is holding the big club at the moment. PUBLIC OUTCRY is a MUCH BIGGER CLUB TO WEILD. this moment in time is pivotal, one way or another. you decide. you decidde by what you do TODAY. WE are the only ones who know enough to do something. it's on our shoulders right now - given the circumstances.
you all know the deal. justice. justice. justice.....call for it.. scream for it.
with your own voice, with your own heart, with your own body.
As you may know, the next two sessions of Dr. Jones' case before the Connecticut Medical Board (CMB) have been scheduled for Thursday, January 18 and Thursday, January 25. Here are the details:
1. Hearing session scheduled for Thursday, January 18th: This will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Dept. of Public Health Complex, 410 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT, Conference Room C in Building 470. The room holds 100 people (note that this is a different location than where the last several have been held, but is nearby);
2. Hearing session scheduled for Thursday January 25th: This session also will begin at 9:00 a.m. Location to be determined. We should know this by mid-week. Please watch for more information.
CRITICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN DR. JONES' CASE:
The Connecticut Medical Board has stepped up its assault on Dr. Jones: they have dug up additional cases which involve divorced or estranged parents fighting over their kids' medical care, and want to add them at this late date to the current charges.
The Board also is bringing the father in from Nevada, in the hopes of discrediting his ex-wife, who is the mother of the two children in the current case.
It is likely he will try to paint a Munchausen-type picture of her, to negate the powerful testimony that she gave during her appearance at the hearing.
In response to these developments, it is time for the Lyme community to mount a powerful, visible, vocal, yet respectful response.
The Connecticut Medical Board (and the Department of Public Health) must hear that Dr. Jones has been a highly valued practitioner whose dedictation and expertise with pediatric Lyme disease has been a blessing and a lifesaver to thousands of children and their families.
It is critically important to support Dr. Jones not only because of his direct contributions to children with tick-borne disease and their families.
If the CMB is allowed to prevail, it will pave the way for similar charges to be brought against other physicians who treat Lyme comprehensively in Connecticut and, ultimately, elsewhere. This situation, together with the recent publication of the newly revised, draconian IDSA guidelines, poses another direct threat to availability of appropriate care and patients' right to informed consent in the area of tick-borne disease.
The Lyme community must express a unified, coherent and powerful message regarding our presence and determination with regard to these issues.
WHAT TO DO:
1. Attend one or both of the upcoming sessions: Offer rides and organize carpools. Bring your family and friends, as well as your children. Some of us who have helped to publicize the previous sessions are going to be away on one or more of the next two hearing dates.
This, together with the uncertainty of winter weather conditions, increases our concern about ensuring strong attendance at these next two sessions.
2. Media Coverage: We are now seeking as much media coverage as possible for these hearings - newspapers, TV, etc. Is this an arena that you or anyone you know could help with? Please come forward if you do. Your ideas and contacts are vital!
3. Help to spread the word: Please do what you can to support Dr. Jones and to get the word out that attendance is more crucial than ever, etc.
4. Formal Protest: Some of us are investigating the possibility of a formal, indoor demonstration at one or both of the hearings. This is complicated and time is short, however.
We are awaiting word regarding the legal requirements, including a permit. In the meantime, please plan to attend the hearings themselves - if we pack the room and overflow into the hallway, this will serve as an informal, de facto demonstration. Wear comfortable shoes, bring chairs and healthy snacks, just in case.
5. Donations to Dr. Jones' Legal Defense Fund: The cost of Dr. Jones' legal defense has been astronomical. We are lucky that Dr. Jones has promised that he won't quit, and is determined to defend both his license and the right to treat Lyme comprehensively.
This could entail a lengthy appeal process and even wind up in civil court. If we want him to prevail, we must remember that his fight is our fight: this is about much more than one physician's medical license.
Please continue to check your email for more information and details. Mark your calendars for these two important dates. Thank you for your attention, your ideas and your support!

Mo.. did they get a permit? I can't seem to get any NEW info from anyone.
We need to know the location of the hearing on Jan. 25th so we can pass it along to the media.
We need a decision immediately! What excuses are they making?

Is there somewhere the rest of us could call into on the days of Jan 18 and 25 to voice our support for Dr. Jones?

Weather still looking good for tomorrow's hearing in Hartford. High 37, mostly cloudy, 0 chance of precipitation.
You may wish to leave the hearing promptly if you have a long distance to drive home. Some areas are forecasting possible precipitation during the night and on Friday.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who is attending tomorrow and those who have been working on media coverage and in other ways.
I really believe that if we can shine enough light on this case, even the powers that be will be forced to come around.
Persistence, persistence, persistence!
Good things do happen!
