Yes, happens all the time. It is not an uncommon event. That said, if the mother is being treated with ABX, I am unaware of any report of it being passed. Without treatment, it is very very likely.

I'm interested in this further as our daughter is 11 months now. She was born in February and I was diagnosed in May last year. I can't imagine her dealing with this at this age or ever. She doesn't seem to show any symptoms and hates sleeping! But she is good at it.

Thanks for any info anyone has.
Regards, Karl

Yes it can be passed. The only way to prevent having a baby with lyme is to take abx while pregnant.

OK, The reason I am asking is that I have had Lyme for 8 years, that was not diognoised till August 06.

My daughter just turned 5 and and was rushed to the ER last night as she had hypothermia and then a rash came up. She has been complaining of joint pain in her knees and fingers and hip for several weeks.

Took her to my pedatrician today who after examining her, took blood for a western blot, gets the results next week!

I am freaking out!! After 8 years of trying to find out what was wrong with me i am finally starting daily IV Rocephin with a PICC line in the next two weeks.

I can't even get my head around the fact she may have to go through what I have been going through.

Unfortunately, I know so many families where all the kids have it because the mother was not diagnosed until after they were born. It happens. The good side would be that kids respond to treatment much better and if that is what the issue is, it is better to know and get moving on a plan of attack.

It happens.. It did with my two children... although most pediatricians will disagree and look at you like you are crazy! I took my children to see Dr. J in connecticut a few years ago to get them really checked out and found that they are carrying it, but he didn't think that they had active infections and didn't need treatment... I do keep my eye on them though intently! Believe me.. I don't want them to have to go through what I have!

I had two kids after the bite. While pregnant with my daughter, I had really bad symptoms.

Joint pain
Problems with my teeth and gums
Major mood swings and OCD with cleanliness
Migrain headaches

But with my son I was fine throughout the pregnancy. No weird symptoms.

My son seems to be fine, but my daughter I am concerned about.

She has bilateral sensory neural hearing loss and has to wear hearing aids.

She is on Adderall for ADD.

She complains often with joint pains and muscular aches.

She has mood swings and periods of depression.

Migrain headaches

She has recurring unexplainable rashes, fevers, and infections and other symptoms that come and go.

I have insurance on her through her father but I do not have insurance right now.

That is the reason for my delay in seeing a LDMD and getting proper diagnosis and treatment.

Should I take her to be tested for Congenital Lyme even though my diagnosis has not been confirmed yet?

We have 3 generations of LD in our family alone.

My mom got bit by a tick in 1962, before she had all of her kids. Me and all of my sisters have it. My 3 kids have it. My sisters kids have it.

So yes I would say its congenital!
