I watch a vitamin k protocol list for my sons autism and there are some overlaps in discussion here. As the approaches are similar I thought it might help someone here-
From my vit k board re:chloride "Oxalates can cause edema. Chloride in sea salt will exchange with stored oxalates across the cell membrane, and the K2 could be causing oxalates to flow faster. So the bloating could be in response to a larger or faster outflow of oxalates. Increase her VSL#3 and give her some baking soda baths to neutralize the acid."
re: vitamin a " an increase in Vitamin A caused an increase in oxalate outflow, which I am guessing is coming from the bones because Vitamin A upregulates bone building and the bones are a known storage depot for oxalates. My kids have not had rashes - they just have GI and some urinary symptoms and increasing VSL#3 has done it for them. The more VSL#3 you give, the faster you can "pull" oxalates into the GI tract for disposal. There is kind of a rhythm to this which you will start to sense after a while - first you get diarrhea, then about 24-48 hours later the diarrhea goes away again. The oxalate flow rate is determined by what's called a concentration gradient; a steep gradient means there is a big difference in how much oxalate is inside the intestines vs. outside in the body, and increasing VSL#3 reduces what's in the intestines so the gradient gets steeper and the flow from the body to the intestines quickens."
