I had my last bicillin shot on Friday. I'm due again on Tuesday. Today I have burning pain all over my body - it feel like heart burn everywhere. I'm a little winded. I've had this feeling before. I also have a really bad headache. An hour after I've had each of my shots I feel really tired and a little light headed and a little winded(not quite babesia level winded) (but my pulse is normal). I had chest pain yesterday but nothing today (I've been to multiple cardiologists- everything comes back fine).

Should I go ahead with tomorrow's shot? When I've had herxes before I was allowed to cut back on the meds - how do I cut back - skip a shot?

What do you think? I tend to think it is a herx because if it was a allergic reaction I would think it would have bothered me on friday.

The nutritionalist that works with my doc said I need to drink more water and take activated charcoal to expel the toxins. (I'm doing some detoxing with Colosan.)

gopats (I'm not feeling crappy just because the patriots lost) [Smile]

check drug lit. sources for reactions to procaine.

procaine in the blood stream as a result of an injection, in this case an i.m. shot, will cause heart symptoms, and other symptoms. if this is the case, then the needle either went into a vein or artery, or it was so close to one, or both of these kinds of blood vessels that, teh procaine perhaps got into teh blood stream.

Hmmm...I would think that it would have hit me on the first day not the third day. I think the hour after I have the shot may be consistent with the procain or herx since the lit mentions herx 1-2 hours after injection. Wouldn't the doctor know if he had hit a vein/artery? He did the first two and I felt funny both times an hour after the shot.

Let's hope it is not the procain. Thanks for the response.

once the needle is in the muscle, pulling up, a little, on the plunger of the syringe would have drawn blood into the barrel of teh syringe thereby indicating one is into a blood vessel, in which case then, teh person giving the injection would not inject the bicillin, but remove the needle a little away from that depth of insertion and then would have injected it, hopefully into teh muscle.

if no blood seen in the barrel, the person would have went forward with the injection, assuming their into muscle, and not a blood vessel.

check with your doc,et.al., and drug lit. sources,on your reaction.

search medline, "procaine in blood"

After all this....I went to the package insert and there is no procain in Bicillin LA [Smile] That is only in Bicillin CR. I was looking on line under Bicillin and needed to look for Bicillin LA [Smile]

I called the LLMD to get his thoughts before I have another shot today.....

I still feel lousy today.
