Hi everyone-- I'm in such a pickle. I have had

2 cavitation surgeries for a tooth that shows to

have osteomyolitis. I have been advised to

have hyperbaric oxygen treatment. I have heard

that there is a 30% positive outcome.(oh, great)

Any experiences with hyperbaric chambers.... Or t

these dental problems.

Thank you,

Debbie

debbiet,

I assume you also have some connection with Lyme disease???

Our daughter is scheduled to begin Hyperbaric O2 Chamber (HBO) sessions beginning the first week in February.

One of the issues we're facing is that most, if not all, health insurance will not cover HBO treatments for Lyme.

Take a look at the following website:

http://www.hbotoday.com/treatment/clinical/index.shtml

Read the page entitled, "Clinical Reference" and pay particular attention to "Approved Indications for HBO Therapy". You'll notice that osteomyelitis falls within the "approved" category, meaning most insurance companies will cover all or some portion of the cost for the treatments.

Then look at "Investigational Indications for HBO Therapy", that 's where you'll find Lyme disease.

It's not a good thing that you have a bone infection, but if you need HBO treatments to cure the infection and you just happen to suffer from Lyme disease also, at least you'll get the benefits of the therapy and hopefully have your health insurance pick up some of the costs.

(and you're only ~ 270 miles from one of the country's best HBO clinics)

Good Luck

Ventura County-
Can you let me know how it goes? My LLMD said my insurance should cover the HBO since it is osteomyolitis as well as lyme.

Hi Debbiet,

I have some experience with this and I will tell you that you can have the HBOT paid for by your insurance carrier if you put the lyme on the back burner and focus on the osteomyelitis...

Osteomyelitis is an approved condition by the UHMS.

If you need to get information on where to get treated what the codes etc let me know. I will do my best to help you.

Julia
