Hi all. On my second day of bactrim ds at two times a day.

I feel like I have been run over by a truck....which I suppose is a good thing. (Die bugs, Die!!!)

I also am currently taking 1000 mg of malarone, 500mg of zithromax, diflucan 100mg twice daily due to yeast present in mouth. Also several probiotics and supplements.

LLMD prescribed flagyl 250 mg at once a week. I am not sure if I should wait to day 7 and see if I am getting over this herx (wishful thinking), or should I just dive in and really feel bad.

Since it is the weekend, I thought I should try tonight or tomarrow while my husband is home.

I also need to be able to drive my children to Mother's Day Out program on Monday.

Any suggestions are appreciated and I thank you for your consideration in advance.

I think you'll be OK on that dosage. If you get too scared, then take 1/2. This is not medical advice, OK!!?? You could also take 1/2 in the a.m. and 1/2 in the p.m.

I herxed horribly on this, too.

Also, it caused a stomachache (acid) and I had to take Prevacid to take care of that.

Not a doctor, but my advice? GO SLOWLY! Especially if you are already feeling badly. Take a very small dose for several days in a row. I was fine on an eighth of a pill for three days, then BLAM. I'll never try Flagyl again.

A website I looked at last night listed 14 conditions you should tell your doctor about before you take Flagyl. (I had 7 of the conditions.) Here are the conditions I remember: diabetes, liver disease, hypoglycemia, hearing loss, blood problems, thyroid problems, maybe neurological problems? and low blood pressure.

Good luck.

Hi all. Tutu, I took your advice and took half of the flagyl pill this am and just took the other half.

I have had a bad headache all day as well as various new and old aches and pains.

Doing okay though. Having a hard time with taking all the meds as far as spacing them out, etc.

I hope I am killing those bugs!!!!!

Thanks again.

I took 1000 mg a day for 3 days and ended up with major anxiety, terrible headache and no appetite.

But thanks to all of those on lymenet, I realized I probably was taking to much and need to talk to my llmd.

I'v stopped for now until I talk to him. I don't think I will give up on it just yet. Maybe adjust my dosage though.

Good Luck,
Karen

Flagyl is a beast! Hubby takes small pieces of it on some days, as told to do by LLMD. It still knocks him for a loop sometimes. I am noticing that the herx type reactions are getting farther apart though. I hope that is a good sign.
Take Flagyl in tiny doses, even 1/4 or 1/3 pill.
Take care.

Well, I took my flagyl yesterday. Broke it into half and took half in am, half in pm.

This morning I really feel as if I have been run over by a truck.

I am dizzy, shakey and hurt all over. I know this is a good thing.

I am so glad I don't take another till next Sat.

My highest respect to those of you who are on it daily. Wow!!!!!!

Thanks for all of the encouragement and pearls of wisdom.

Now, if I can muster up the strength to take all of the rest of my meds today, I guess I will be okay.

I just don't feel like swallowing any pills today. Do any of you ever feel this way?

However, I will perserve and take comfort that I am making headway against this disease.

Thanks again,

Geneal

Geneal,

I don't feel like swallowing pills everyday. I gag when I take them. I have only been taking them for a little over a year not like most people on here. I feel like I am so done with this.

I am not a big pill person as it is so you can just imagine how I feel.

Sorry the flagyl is hitting you hard, I took it and it killed me. I'm holding off until I talk to my llmd. You are brave to keep going. Kill those nasty things.

Good Luck,

Karen

Geneal,

Did you get the license plate? I think that is the same truck that hit me.

I just started flagyl also, UG. Take it slow. If you are already having a big herx, maybe a smaller amount or slowly adding can help you go the distance.

We (being my whole family) were all on this at one time or another and told by the doc to "ramp" up SLOWLY ...by taking 1/4 of the DOSE for 2 to 4 days ... then 1/2 of the DOSE for same time period ... then 3/4 of the DOSE and then finally at full dose if we could tolerate it!

I think doing that was one of the BEST things we ever did and we do it w/ any change of antibiotic or introduction of new med now!

Just a thought ... good luck!
