I'm really curious about the dosages people are on. I am on amoxicillin 875 mg x7 twice a day. So far I have had no effects at all other than stomach/intestine stuff. I can't say this surprises me as I have gone through this before and not gotten any relief from orals. This time around I can't afford IV so I am giving it another shot.

dosages vary depending on abx and person.

You didn't say if you took anything for the stomach, intestine issues. Have to take probiotics to replenish the good digestion bacteria. Helps prevent those issues.

I think that's low for Lyme. Hope others come along who know.

I'm on probiotics, yogurt... as little sugar as possible in my diet, the works. Lymetoo, you say it seems low? That makes me feel a bit better as it seems many people on the board are on something like 500 amox 2x daily and I was beginning to think I was way overdoing it. Shouldn't more be happening than tearing up my stomach? A herx or anything?

Amoxicillin, in our experience is harder on the stomach than some of the other abx. Zith has been easiest.

We go for suspension (liquid) form if it is available. Or you can empty capsules into applesauce or something like that. I think the idea is to not have a capsule or tablet sitting there in one place in stomach while it is dissolving or that is how I imagine it.

Other thing, many lld's prescribe 2 different abx to be taken together. Creates a synergy to make more effective and also reduce development of resistance.

Keep us posted!

From what I remember, zithro was pretty well tolerated. Its just expensive. This is my first time dealing with this sans insurance so I'm experiencing a lot of sticker shock (always paid up front before, so I knew the numbers but they didn't hit very hard knowing I'd be reimbursed). Just doing the amox for now, gonna see how it works out before we try adding anything else...

check here:

You have to take more of amoxy than the others. Each drug is different.

Wait! I thought you said 875 twice a day. What's the x7? 7 days?

It should have read 7 tablets of amoxicillin 875 mg, 2 times a day. Oops!
