My doc had me start with 500 mg 2/day of the raw herb artimesia anua, and increase to 1 gram twice a day after a week. I substituted 100mg of the extract, artimisinin for one of the half-gram caps of raw artimesia form some stretches. I took a week off the artimesia, every 4 weeks.
I believe it was helpful to eat massive amounts of raw garlic as a complement to the artimesia- if you can't get used to chewing it (find the right "chaser"- tomatoes and yogurt isn't too bad...) at least 2 cloves a day, I did. You can (and I did) get pills of garlic or alicin. the essential ingredient, too, but chewing and swallowing the raw garlic seemed to me to be at least as effective, and many times less expensive. (But you'll smell like a garlic factory!) DaveS

From Dr. Schaller's book: Babesia, take 25mg of Artemisinin per kilogram body weight divided into 2 to 3 doses daily and pulse at two day on one day off.
