Hi folks, i was half asleep one night thinking of how to get to those spirochetes and cure us all of Lyme : ) Now, I have NO scientific background whatsoever (as you'll soon see), so excuse me if my idea sound naive.
Well here it goes, I have dubbed it the "Roach Motel" theory. What if instead of tring to kill all the bacteria by battling them, some genius creates a type of drug which attracts the little fellas to it ... just like a "roach motel". This may be even more "sound" in terms of Universal principal ... A Zen strategy .. do not fight an enemy, flow with it, have it come to you then say "bye, bye birdie".
Should I be kicked off the message board or could there be "something" to this ? I can not even venture to try and explain how this would work, but simplistically speaking we would give the spirochetes something more attractive than collagen (like Buhner says, collagen is the Lyme bacteria's favorite restaurant) ... well we create a drug or maybe even an artificial implant of some sort which would contain some beautifully concoted "spirochete" food that they would all swarm to.
I konw I'm nuts !

Kind of the same idea as cholestyramine used to 'BIND' toxins and release them. I'm not sure there's a way to bind or attract bacteria. That's something doctors and scientists have to figure out, which would require a great deal of money for the research.

Love creative thinking!
As my llmd recently said -- all we need is $1billion in funding for lyme research, and we could probably find alot of answers. [Hey, if we can spend $450 billion on the Iraq war, why not $1billion for lyme research. Oh, sorry, don't get me started!)

the cholestyramine idea is one of binding the toxins that are excreted with bile and moving them out via the digestive tract. usually bile is reabsorbed and sent back to the liver. When bound by cholestyramine they go along for hte full journey to the sewer plant (or septic tank).
The oil pulling thread offers another idea. Sucking oil through your teeth. I started doing it after reading about it here, and after I got thrush from the antibiotics. It works miracles. Can't describe how amazing it is to see clear yellow oil turn to white opaque gunk and spit it out. I'd love to get a microscope and take a look to see what's in there!
Apparently the borreliosis are attracted to fatty tissues (like mylin sheath of nerves) and like the oil. Apparently it take the toxins from your mouth and also that are pulled out of yoru system into the saliva as you swish and swill the oil.
I got the idea to bath my hands in oil as well, because along with the thrush I got red inflamed skin on my hands as I herxed. It helped tremendously.
Also been doing every other day sauna, and when I do I start by slathering on the oil.
Now this, I don't know at all if it's doing anything, but I figure it can't hurt.
So you aren't crazy, or if you are I am too!

I am using a version of your "Roach Motel" theory. My wife takes Magnesium and it seems to bring the Lyme out of cyst form into the spirochete form. At least, going by her symptoms it seems to do that.
Then we use the Rife machine which can kill or weaken the spirochete. I do not know for sure if it is working as we have not used this approach very long.
All I know for sure is the Mg always brings joint pain which is her main symptom of active Lyme. And after Rife treatment running Lyme frequencies her joint pain goes away.
The goal is to eliminate the Lyme faster than could be done otherwise. Only time will tell if it works.

Hey Karenelee, what kind of oil do you put on? My Homepathic doc some time ago told me about Caster oil packs. My massage therapist also uses this oil in one of his mixes to get the lymph system moving.

This is a great idea and maybe it shouldn't be too difficult:
I don't remember where I read this, that when a (Lyme infected?) tick bites you it puts some stuff in your blood which acts as a signal for the borrelia that are already inside you from another tick bite to swim in this direction.
Then, the tick can suck the host's borrelia and carry them further to the next host.
I'm sure I read this but where ? - Was it in Buhner's book???
If this is true one could artificially produce this signal stuff and put it into the body in kind of a trap.
This could really work. Any researchers here?

I use sesame oil. The oil pulling website specifically recommends this type of oil.
Also, from Ayurvedic information I received in the past, sesame oil is recommended for my consitutional type.
Ayurveda uses different oils for different types of people and different conditions. More than that, I can't say. Perhaps some people use coconut butter.

Hi, What would happen if you pulled oil and went on oil diet 3 days? A mixture of sesame, flax, coconut, and olive oil. Or it could be other oils I'm not familiar with.
Maybe the spirochetes and cysts would slide out. I'm really not trying to be funny. And would be interested to know how they would react to this.
I have been wandering this for some time now.

Hi Gabrielle, I like what you added to the Roach Motel theory !!! I would love to talk with someone in research to see how possible this idea is. Maybe Dr. Mattman or Dr. Whitaker (from Bowen Labs) could take these ideas and "run with 'em". Anybody know how to reach them, maybe an email address ? One of them has Lyme disease ... health is more a motivation than money.

I have to wonder if this disease wil be cured by a suffering and diligent patient who has tried everything imaginable . Or maybe someone will stumble on a plant that blocks replication of the bacteria.
I do pray for some light to be shed on the nature of the bacteria. ( SOON!)
I read that a DEER can not actually get Lyme ... if that so, what prevents them from getting Lyme ? What kind of resistance do they naturally possess ?
