Today I met a friend for coffee and we sat outside because it was fairly nice, in the mid 40's F. which qualifies as Spring around here.
At the end of our hour I noticed my lower lip had pins and needles that felt like novacaine wearing off. About ten minutes later I felt like my whole face and the back of my hands were slatthered in "icy-hot" couldn't tell if they felt hot or cold, but definitely tingling.
It's been about 8 hours and the sensation is still there, though not as intense.
Is this a lyme thing? Is this a doxycycline thing?
It's really weird whatever it is, and if any one can give me a clue, it might help me ease a bit of worry.
Seeing my doc tomorrow, so maybe she can explain.
OK< off to take another nap. The training for the nap fundraiser is going quite well!

It's a doxycycline thing! I had similar stuff while on doxy, not on any other abx. It stopped as soon as I stopped taking doxy.
Remember, sun sensitivity on doxy can be so bad that if you sat outside, even if it was cloudy, you could be risking sunburn. Best to use total sunblock and wear a hat while on doxy.

In addition to the sun sensitivity of Doxy, remember that Lyme and coinfections can cause tingling/numbness anywhere in the body.
I'm not on Doxy now (was back in 2004) but I've had a worsening of facial tingling and twitching now that I'm on Bartonella treatment. I've had it prior to this but it seems a little worse now. I'm getting lots of it around my mouth.

It can also indicate the start of an allergic reaction.. so if it gets ANY worse.. or your tongue starts to swell.. or you can't catch your breath... call the doctor and head to the ER!

I agree that it could be the start to an allergic reaction. Make sure you have your epipen ready.

It was a Doxy thing for my husband. Not allergice, just the prickly rash on his face.
Avoid the sun though!
