Hi, I was a member here a while back, and I thought I was cured - who knows, i might be cured. Anyway, I now have a beautiful almost-one year old son, named - you guessed it, Bryce :-0
Anyway I have been having a lot of headaches, neck pain, swollen glands, fatigue, etc. The only thing is, he is still up all night and I am not sure how much of these symptoms are just pure exhaustion?
Does this sound like a relapse?
I am still nursing him, so I don't want to take any meds.
Thanks Jess

Hi momofbryce
I am sorry to hear you are not feeling well. How long have you had these symptoms? I hope its just a flu or something?
Do you have a LLMD who treated you in the past you could call?
With the long hours & stress of being a mom maybe it is possible to have some symtoms come back. I don't have any children-lyme robbed me of my child bearing years. I wish I could be more helpful.
Just wanted to say hang in there
and hope you are feeling better soon Blessings Dana

Sorry you are not feeling well. I had a major relapse when I was pregnant and I've read that pregnancy is likely to allow lyme to rear it's ugly head. Hopefully you got rid of the infection but after considerable research I wonder if a cure is really possible. In any case, the fatigue and stress of a new baby could very well bring your immune system down enough to cause a relapse if you aren't completely cured.
The neck pains and swollen glands are likely not from being tired with a new baby but they could be some other problem of course. If you have had the relatively new symptoms for awhile and you are sure it is not the flu, I would get to an LLMD.
Also, if you were not completely cured, you could be passing it on to your son in your breast milk, that is if he doesn't already have congenital lyme. There is some controversy about that but it has been seen in breast milk. Congenital lyme is a proven fact but who knows how often it is passed? I don't think anyone knows if it is viable as an infection in breast milk.
Anyway, I hope you truely are cured but I personally feel that if you are not treated adequately shortly after infected, very few get a true cure. Terry I am not a doctor, just my opinion

Babies can take a lot out of you. You don't have to have Lyme to feel wiped out. However, as mentioned above, swollen glands and neck pain aren't the usuals.
I can understand your reluctance to take any meds since you're nursing. Some are supposedly okay but I'd have the same distrust with someone saying today oh, that doesn't get into the breast milk and then down the road saying oh, sorry, we were mistaken.
Maybe you can start looking into seeing an LLMD and by the time you get the ball rolling and if you do need treatment you'll have had enough time to think about weaning. I can understand if that is something you don't want to give up yet and if you don't want Lyme to take that from you.
On the other hand, if this is Lyme rearing its ugly head you want to get ahead of it so you'll have the energy to raise your baby. As always, it's the weighing of the pros and cons.
Good luck and enjoy your baby!

Thanks for the help! I do want to feel better, but I also want Bryce to get the most benefits from BFing. So, eventually we will wean, but I'd rather wait a bit and see if I can try some therapies other than meds (eating differently, saunas, etc) in the meantime. I will try to get a hold of my LLMD in the meantime.
Is it normal for fatigue to make you so susceptible to a relapse? I was feeling GREAT before I spent the last 6 months up all night. I had a fantastic pregnancy!

I infected my older daughter through
breastfeeding
and she was sick for 3 years and had heart valve issues. She has now been in remission for 5+ years.
NOW
I am breastfeeding my 2 year old
WHILE ON AMOXICILLIN
which gives me nor her ANY side effects and keeps me GREAT and symptom-free and her from getting sick!!!!
I would REALLY think about amoxicillin because my older daughter had to be on HORRIBLE tasting liquid zithromax for TWO of THREE YEARS on abx and boy she hated it!!!!! And was in terrible pain- and had horrible symptoms of autistic presentation-and regressed completely- and had pain pain pain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to THIS DAY has to see a pediatric cardiologist even though she has been in full remission for 5 years!!!
I totally believe in breastfeeding-obviously- to be breastfeeding past 2 years old- and amoxi is totally safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take care- Best wishes, Sarah

yes. I believe it is possible. Being up all night with your new babay & not getting enough sleep is not good for your body as a whole.
Being sleep deprived can really reak havoc.
I don't have any actual articles to back this up but it makes sense to me.
