I have been on Flagyl for a little over 3 weeks, gradually building up to 250mg twice a day. Around the time I went to the 250mg twice a day from 375mg once a day (about 4 days ago) a mild pain started around one rib under my breast, now it has gotten worse and now includes my side and back. This afternoon it has really started to hurt when I breath and my neck is aching. I am finding that I am holding my breath quite often because it hurts to breath. Is this possibly from the Flagyl or did I coincidentally bruise a rib and not remember???

Dear KMP,
I have rib pain all the time. I started flagyl about 5 weeks ago...250mg one time a week.
I have had some pain around diaphragm area. Some under rib cage. Some in back of rib pain.
However, I have had varying rib pain before starting flagyl.
Sorry I couldn't be any more help.
Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks Geneal. I was able to come back and do more searching for rib pain on this forum.
Found that this is what happen to Hats n Scarfs a couple years ago. She described it exactly and then also mentioned pain in the feet.
My foot on that side started hurting late last night and now my knee is hurting again (had quit hurting shortly after I was diagnosed and started 2 mos. of Doxy 9 months ago).
Hats n Scarfs also said she was on another antiobiotic while on the Flagyl, but others had mentioned pain in various areas when they were on Flagyl - especially in feet and burning skin.
I am cutting back on the Flagyl and have been using a heating pad as suggested in that thread. Feeling much better
