Hi -- amoxy has helped me alot. I have been taking it for 8 months now, and it clearly has helped most at the higher dosage that I am now taking: 3.5g twice daily (BID), in the morning and after dinner. Did not help as much when I took 1g/ three times daily. And was harder on the stomach.

I also do the buhner protocol herbs and try any modality (saunas, essential oils) that I can get my hands on! Everything has helped, antibiotics the most, but herbs and nutritional approaches are powerful too.

It is important to take alot of probiotics on amoxy, it can be tough on your flora & fauna. Otherwise, it is fairly easy on the system for me, no problem with 7g/day. I weigh 135 lbs.

good luck

Thats good to hear, how much better do you feel? Do you take any other antibiotics with it?

Hi Jon, I started tx in july with 10 days of doxy, 300 - 400mg/day.

I herxed the first day and felt better after 10 days than I had in years! Doxy had a profoundly beneficial effect for me, but I switched to amoxy after 10 days because the stomach/nausea issues with doxy were strong.

after a couple of weeks on amoxy 3g/day, I felt like the doxy had been more effective, and wanted to give it a second try. the first 10 days on doxy felt like a life-altering experience. This time, i had learned to take it with lots of food and the nausea issue went away.

I took doxy again for 3 weeks, but developed sleep issues and felt not well on doxy, so I switched back to amoxy, and my dosage was upped to 4g/day.

I herxed every time my amoxy was increased, and esp when increased up to 7g/day. although there are ups and downs, i generally feel better over time unless having a bad herx. i am also on buhners protocol which i highly recommend -- buy the book, read it, and try it out.

i also had 2 weeks on zith, with amoxy, which seemed to help a great deal and i herxed strongly. but i then developed stomach problems, and had to stop the zith.

so basically, every abx -- doxy, amoxy, zith -- has helped me tremendously and led to obvious herxes.

two weeks ago started babs tx with malarone and pulsing in occasional zith. i have been herxing for two weeks now, but getting ocassional glimpses of feeling better than i have in 10 years.

it is very exciting for me to be getting healthier, i was desparately sick from years of untreated lyme and whatever other co-infections i had one year ago at this time. Last year, i was hoping for a wheelchair and neck brace to deal with my tremors and dizziness. i was becoming truly non functional. last month, i was camping out and hiking in south america under very strenous conditions while coping well with very stressful work.

although it can seem slow at times, my improvement over time has been significant. But there are strong ups and downs and you should be prepared for those, they can be discouraging. get the best llmd you can find and stick with tx, even if it seems slow at times!

i also started teasel root extract after a week of starting malarone and zith (again for 4 days). wow, that herx knocked me out for several days, i could not move my neck at all. felt like i had meningitis. the combo of zith also leads to strong fatigue for me.

i am eager to be better, but learning to slow down tx so that i can remain functional.

good luck and be well.

Hi Jon. I don't have any experience with Amoxicillin with Tinidazole. I am taking Minocycline with Tinidazole, and it is helping tremendously. I think Tinidazole works well against the cyst form. I have had some intense herxes though.

Good luck!

Good to hear your doing better Vermont.

Sammi how are you taking your doses?

I was prescribed 500mg amoxy 3x a day. Doesn't seem like enough.

500mg Tinidazole 3x a day.

I would like to pulse the tinidazole this time...
BUt I am unsure how to do it. My llmd said 5 days on 2 days off, but this doesn't seem like enough time off in my opinion.

Any thoughts?

How is the Malarone on the stomach?

And which is better on the stomach: Amoxicillin or Minocycline?

I thought you only needed to take Tinidazole once a day? I know you have to take the Flagyl 3 times a day, but Tinidazole was made so you don't have to take it as often.

Hi Jon. I take 400 mg of Mino and 1000 mg Tinidazole daily. I split the doses evenly in the morning and evening, close to 12 hours apart.

Check Dr. B's guidelines for recommended Amox doses. I think you are right that it should be higher. Maybe it is a lower dose because you are taking it with the Tindidazole?
