CapMQuick is the machine I use... More commonly though, I just pour out some boric acid powder into a deep bowl and chase it around with the capsule. You don't have to be religious about the exact dose in each capsule. I only use one or two a day for a few days so they last a while.
which is exactly what I"m filling capsules with tonight after overdoing my sugar intake the past few days and getting a bunch of candida symptoms...
(for those wondering, we're talking about making suppositories for vaginal yeast infection, which can be relieved with boric acid suppositories. However, it should be noted that boric acid is a poison if swallowed)

I have used both and like the capsule filling machcine (the 2nd and 3rd links) far better.

no, we do NOT swallow it or anything.
It's for women with vaginal yeast infections- we just insert it to kill vaginal yeast overgrowth.
Using the capsules vaginally is just like using solid Nystatin suppositories from the drugstore (about the same level of mess afterwards), except that it's a lot cheaper. I made 50 days' worth (if I even need them that often) for about 50 cents last night. I've been using the same bottle of boric acid for about 3 years now and I use this stuff a lot as Lyme has disrupted my flora or immune system and I get these infections every month now.
Do some Google searches on this subject and type in 'side effects' or 'safety' - it's been studied a little bit and seems to be safe for long-term use, but I don't have any references for that handy.
it works VERY well. You still have to deal with whatever's causing the rest of your body to have yeast overgrowth, as the vaginal symptoms are usually an indicator that candida is out of balance in your intestines or elsewhere also.
please mark the capsules well and make sure no one can mistake them for any other kind of supplement, especially those of you who encapsulate any other kind of powder you take orally!

Great info Maria, The darn meds for yeast ( OTC) are not cheap , esp if you have to take them repeatedly .
I may have to break down and try the Theralac that Lymetutu says made a huge difference for her with yeast . It is rather costly though .
I wonder how women figured out that Boric acid could alleviate the misery of vaginal yeast ?
Several years ago I met an eighty year old woman who became so desperate in the middle of the night with the itching that she got up and just grabbed some Vicks Vapor Rub and applied it hoping to get relief . She said it felt like a literal match had lit up her drawers .
think I 'll try the boric acid and try to remember that it only looks like my NAC or calcium capsule .

well, dilute boric acid has lots of topical skin uses. I think it was used as an eyewash and that there's some other skin-related reasons why they have it in the pharmacy. Google it, I"m sure wikipedia says something . The only reason we dont' use it for those things anymore is that it's potentially toxic if swallowed, especially if children swallow it.
oh, and it's great at killing ants and roaches, too.

from the current Wikipedia.org article on boric acid:
quote: Uses
It can be used as an antiseptic for minor burns or cuts and is sometimes used in dressings or salves or is applied in a very dilute solution as an eye wash. As an anti-bacterial compound, boric acid can also be used as an acne treatment. It is poisonous if taken internally or inhaled, although it is generally not considered to be much more toxic than table salt (based on its mammal LD50 rating of 2660mg/kg body mass).[1]
Boric acid is popularly used among fire jugglers and fire spinners dissolved in methylated spirit to give a bright green flame.
Boric acid can be used to treat yeast and fungal infections such as candidiasis (vaginal yeast infections) by filling gelcaps with boric acid powder and inserting two into the vaginal canal at bedtime for three to four nights in a row. It is also used as prevention of athlete's foot, by inserting powder in the socks or stockings, and in solution can be used to treat some kinds of otitis externa (ear infection) in both humans and animals. The preservative in urine sample bottles (red cap) in the UK is Boric acid.
It is often used as a relatively nontoxic insecticide, for killing cockroaches, termites, fire ants, fleas, and many other insects. It can be used directly in powdered form for fleas and cockroaches, or mixed with sugar or grape jelly for ants. It is also a component of many commercial insecticides. In this use, especially in the case of cockroaches, the boric acid in the form of a powder is applied to areas frequented by the insects. The lightweight particles cling to the legs of the insects and eventually cause fatal chemical burns. Boric acid for this use in residential apartments is sold commercially in urban areas afflicted with cockroaches. (Insect control ref: [2])
Sodium borate, a mild antiseptic, and other desirable ingredients may also be included. for ocular suface treatment, such as dry eye.

You may need to ask several pharmacists before you find a place that carries it. I got it from KMart about 8 years ago and have gotten it at Long's Drugs here on the West Coast more recently.

I used this method about 15/20 yrs. ago when I no longer responed to various rx's or otc teatments.
I read a great book named 'Our Bodies, Ourselves' and got the formula for using boric acid. This is a wonderful book on womens health. I will provide a link below for their website.
No compounding Pharmacy near me but my gyn wrote the script and I took it to the local 'Giant Pharmacy' where they filled it.
Now 20 years later......I purchased the boric acid at the CVS near me, they did not have the empty caps but would order them for me. You can get then at the the Vitamin Shoppe also.
Hear are links to tearn more about boric acid and other natural remedies for yeast.
Ok people, this is boric acid is TO BE USED AS A VAGINAL SUPPOSITORY ONLY!!!!!
DO NOT TAKE INTERNALLY!!!

Someone in another thread asked what kind of capsules I use. I buy them from health food stores and they're just gelatin capsules. I think you could use vegetarian (non-gelatin) ones too. I think they're sold online at a bunch of different supplement sellers (maybe iherb.com?)
I had a funny experience a few years back when I didn't have capsules and needed to do this. I opened up a Vitamin C capsule and ate the vitamin C, then used the empty capsule to make my boric acid suppository.
It was still there the next night. It turned out that was an 'enteric coated' type time-release Vitamin C, that certainly didn't dissolve since it wasn't in my stomach.
