Thanks to everyone who posted anything about methylcobalamine. I just did a search that resulted in great info on where to buy and how much. That said, I couldn't find anything on what dosage folks are typically prescribed. My LLMD just gave me an Rx for 1-2mL 25mg/mL injections. When I called a couple of the pharmacies listed, the pharmacists told me that could not possibly be the correct dosage. Said 1/2mL's is way too high. As we all know, we need more of everything than non-lymies do, so I wasn't all that surprised by her response. But still I wonder... Does that dosage sound correct to you guys?
Thanks lots.

I have 10mg/cc. I take 10-15mg's worth a day or every other day (cause I don't particularly enjoying injections).
I thought 25mg/cc sounded like a bit much too, but Burrascano said to use 25mg/cc.
From the pdf... "Dose is generally 25mg. (1c.c.) daily for 3 to 6 months."
25mg is perfectly safe and everything, so it can't hurt really.

That's possibly true Nimzovich76. I was just quoting burrascano's recommendations, he said if you don't pee red than your not taking enough. I'm not sure if that is right, and honestly I am not sure it isn't right.
I'm not sure people know the exact benefits of high really dose methylcobalamin, so I'm not sure you could say it's not beneficial at all.
I know doses even higher than 25mg/day have been used for pernicious anemia. Also I think there was some talk about it doing something with heavy metals in the brain. Most of it is excreted after about 30 minutes, but while it's in your system it may be doing something beneficial.
I believe Burrascano was saying it helped with nerve regeneration. Here are some studies below where 25mg< doses were used. Some of the studies might not have compared with lower dose methylb12, but jumping to conclusions and saying ultra-high dose doesn't have any advantages might be premature without further studies/evidence.

Mine was 25 mg/mL and I injected 1 cc daily in the morining! Worked great! Make sure your compounding pharmacy knows what they are doing! You should pee pink if it is working!

Nimzovich76 - Yes it's definitely a fair price, and it's definitely Methyl. I sent you a PM of the compounding pharmacy.
However, I don't know if my LLMD gets it specially priced for her or not, or if your or your LLMD would be able to get it at a comparable price. Always worth a try though.

I am a retired pharmacist. My dose of Methylcobalamine is 1000mcg/cc. My concern is the volume of injectable drug you will be receiving, not the concentration. IM injections should be no larger than 1cc(ml) at a time. I'll PM you.

Hi folks and THANK YOU so much for your info! I did call my LLMD today to check on the Rx and she said that 25mg/ml, 1-2cc's daily, is right. I have peripheral neuropathies, so it's aimed at that specifically, not for just general supplementation. She said I should see the effects within 1-3mo. Also that the 2cc's was written in case I want to give myself a double injection every couple of days instead of the 1cc every day. Perhaps to save on some pain and lumpy-bumpys. Like WildCondor mentioned, she said that if ya don't pee pink (just in time for Easter colors! ), the dose is not high enough. My LLMD follows most of Dr B's protocols pretty closely, so I guess that's that.
Naturally, my insurance won't cover it. Buggers. BUT, with the help of some others' posts, I found a really cheap source. Like WAY cheaper. My doc is faxing my script to them today and I'll post the name of the pharmacy and the $ after it goes through- just to be sure that the info I was given over the phone is indeed correct.
Be well everyone.

I'm curious of those who have been supplementing for a while, has anyone actually had their urine turn pink? My son was getting about three to four 1cc doses per week and never had that happen. It did seem to help, though. Nancy

Your urine should turn pink if the B12 is working right and you have the correct dose. Mine always turned pink...
