Hi, I'm new here and I just wanted to share that I got a positive test for Lyme disease from the Central Florida Research lab first time. They were very helpful as I talked with a consultant there and she gave me lots of good info. The test is new and as it was explained to me test for the bacteria in the spirochete and cyst forms. Better than the antibody testing because as you probably all know the bacteria can hide and then the body doesn't produce antibodies....so the antibody test can be false negative. With the Central Florida Research test if the bacteria is there the test will be positive. I was also told that it has been approved by the State and CLIA. CLIA is made up of a team from the Dept. of Health, Medicare, Medicaid and the CDC. So that sounds pretty impressive to me.

I just posted in a thread above that I got a negative from CFR. My daughter was also negative.
So at least they are not giving away too many positives to be believable.
We may have a different lyme strain, or we may just have co-infections to deal with. Who knows.

Bejoy, You made a very good point. I direct a support group and what I have observed and learned is that some of the sickest people will test negative with the testing that is available, both antigen and antibody test. However, many will test positive for other bacterial infections like mycoplasmas, Babesia, Ehrlichia, Bartonella, Rickettsia, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and viral infections like HHV6, CMV and Epstein Barr. They also may be chemical sensitive, and test positive for heavy mentals, parasites etc. However after being treated for these other problems and they are retested the test for Lyme disease will finally come up positive. We are really in the beginning stages of learning about Lyme disease and the tick soap we are explosed to when we are bitten by a tick or other vector. We need more research.
Take care, SandiB
