I put on my new self tanner at 1pm. At 5pm, my tongue and roof of my mouth were tingly and the back of my mouth was burning. I started getting a little short of breath. I'm not sure if that was from getting scared, or a side effect.
The thing is, I LOVE this tanner and I don't want this to have been an allergic reaction. I took a Benadryl just in case, which made me fall asleep.
I just woke up and I still feel some burning on the roof of my mouth.
These are things that I have never dealt with prior to Lyme, so I'm confused.
What does it sound like to you?

No, all I had so far was eggs and toast, neither of which I am allergic to.
I thought I would get hives or something, but my only symptoms were the tingling tongue and roof of my mouth and the shortness of breath.

These are the ingredients - nothing really stands out for me
Water, Propylene Glycol, Dihydroxyacetone (tanning agent), Ceteryl Alcohol, Cetereth 20, Sesame Oil, Jojoba Oil, Aloe Vera, NaPCA, Vitamin E, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Robin -- if this were me, and I didn't do anything else out-of-the-ordinary that day, or around that time period, i.e., no new or increased meds, remedies, or supplements, etc. and I didn't eat any food I might be allergic, too, then I might be cautious about using the tanning formula.
It is possible that there is something toxic in the formula, or at least, toxic to a person with LD. Our systems are a lot more sensitive right now. Many of us actually do react more to foriegn substances.

I don't know if you are allergic or not, but I can tell you that every time I have tried to use self-tanner I get very sick/relapse for several days after and feel completely over-toxic.

When I woke up this morning, I was still tan, despite washing it off my face. Since I put it on at 1pm, and didn't get these feelings until 5pm, could it still be an allergic reaction that long after applying it.
I emailed the company and the guy said that in the 10 years he has been manufacturing this product, he has never heard of anyone having that type of reaction. He's heard of a rash, but nothing like I described.
I would love to use it again (keeps me out of the tanning beds - another no no), but I am afraid of going into anyphalactic shock or something.

I would not feel ill the first day, but usually starting the next day and onwards.

I used to have a sensitivity to wheat, and it was always 'delayed.' It usually took about 24 hours to hit, and then, like clockwork, sinus infection.
I used to think of allergies as something that is immediate rather than delayed. But too many personal experiences have shown otherwise.
