I have lost 120 lbs in a 12 month period since I began having really bad Lyme symptoms. I needed to lose the weight and still have some to go. Do antibiotics slow down weight loss?

I notice I retain a lot more fluid since starting the antibiotics and my weight can fluctuate as much as five pounds from day to day.

If you are gaining fluid (and it sounds like it with that weight gain in one day) then consider looking at yeast as a possible cause or contributor.

Fluid retention is a big symptom for me but that came with the infection, long before I started treatment. Many of us here seem to have fluid retention as part of our infection. Some seem to have gotten it after starting abx. I'm not sure if it is a result of a herx or a yeast infection or something else such as increased toxins. Do a search here for edema for further discussion.

I can't answer your questions about abx and whether they slow weight loss. It probably depends on the abx and the individual but I'm not a doctor and don't know.

Thanks TerryK. I hadn't thought I was having any yeast problems but I'll look it up.

I have lost over 30 lbs from lyme due to chronic nausea and loss of appetite. [cussing]

I had unexplained weight loss before I did the heavy duty abx. No matter how many calories I consumed.

I think weight loss is also a symptom of one of the co-infections. Sorry I can't recall which one right now
