I am in my 3rd week of IV Rocephin and zith every other day.
While infusing, I get a heavy , crampy feeling in my left chest area. Picc line is in left
arm. My friend, who had the same treatment said she felt like that the first couple of weeks and
then the last couple of weeks of her 56 day treatment.
The nurse today said that does happen.
But why?
I'm making sure to not infuse too quick, to do as directed. One drop every 3 seconds.
Since having lyme, that was one of my off and on symptoms, cramping in the left chest area.
It happens every time when I infuse. Anything uncomfortable in the chest area makes me a little
nervous. Is this a common reaction?

Maybe you should have a chest x-ray and make sure the picc is in the proper place. I never had a problem with this, but I know others on this board had. Please be careful and feel better.

I was x-rayed immediately after the picc line was put in and it was in the right place.
Are you suggesting re-xraying?
The amt of line coming out of my arm has not changed so I don't know what it is.
Maybe the rocephin is stirring that area up since it was an occasion symptom since getting Lyme?

My suggestion.. ask the doctor.
Other checks.. too cold? Is the med bag warmed up to room temp?
Too fast drip? Some need it even slower than normal... like ME.
In an attempt to be still too long.. cramped muscle?
Sorry I have no better ideas for you or answers. Hope it stops and you are more comfortable.
