Just to let everyone who doesn't know me. I am 18, have severe late stage lyme and am being treated by a LLMD. Well I have been feeling really really bad for 13 days now and no end in sight. It started out a herx, now I dont know what it is doing, it isnt going away and my pian is going up and down like an elevator. I almost commited suicide this morning after treating for 6 months and still watching my self become more and more debilitated. Then I got rushed to the ER, they could give me no help. Then had to rush back home to talk to my LLMD on the phone, he is sending me prednisone tonight (babys doses) I am just now starting zithromax and I HATE it, it stays in the body for up to 10 days!!!

Yo! When you are thinking suicide and are rushed to the hospital its time you see antibiotics as your friends!

I've been there and know that sometimes it gets tough, but one thing lyme does is make us tough. If you need help call a hotline, get on here, or go for a head clearing walk tonight and howl at the moon. I'll even chat if you need someone to share with.

I'm glad you took the time to get on here and tell us how you feel. I think as much as you may hate taking the zithromax you probably need to.

Please tell us what we can do for you?

When the pain gets too bad, you need to back OFF the meds. Speak with your dr about this, but MANY LLMD's adhere to this advice.

We want you around, OK?!

How much prednisone?? That's not a very good idea, but if the dosage is very small and you are ON abx, it can get you out of a bad herx.

In my opinion, it would be far better to just back off the abx.

I am NOT a dr....so don't take my advice without speaking to your LLMD.

Please hang in there!

Lyme disease treatment is long, but you will get better. I agree that pulsing your meds is a good idea because it sounds like you are having a horrible herx.
Please stay well and keep in touch with us. We all know how long and painful this disease can be, but we also know that with proper meds you will feel better and get back to your life.
God bless and feel better. [group hug]

here is the thing, I have been off abx for 5 days now and it is not helping, I was in ER today! My LLMD said small doses of prednisone are perfectly fine for bad herxes and they dont set the immune system back like everyone says it does.

He said a herx is the bodys immune system reacting to the poison they put off.

Have you been told to detox to get rid of the poisons. If not you really should think about it.

I was sick as you know what until I got rid of toxins. Here is a post of ways my dr. says to detox and replenish vitamins and minerals:

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=052951;p=1#000005

Hope you can get some relief soon. I know this is frustrating. I wish I could say it could be over soon for us all. There is a lesson on patience here I think.

I have taken antibiotics for 38 months. It is very slow for me but I couldn't function when I started and now I can work an eight hour day.

Some people aren't this slow to get well some are longer. I'll pray for you and your LLMD getting you better soon. Please detox if you are not already, I think I would have died.

Hang in there, you can get better.

Please don't kill yourself!!!! If oyu ever need to talk you can call me- I was very very sick and am at 99.9%- I am going to LA as of Sat morning so will not be at my usual # but my cell is 1-831-334-2601. Please give me a call before killing yourself- or call someone- !!!!

At one point I had given up completely and did not think I would live- was SO down- and I did get better and am so glad I stuck around-

I do the Lyme Disease Memorial Page and suicide is *common* in Lyme disease- it is the disease affecting the brain- it may feel real- it may feel real and like it is you but it is you with the disease- give it time and abx and it will change- don't let the disease win-!!!!!!

you are clearly a smart young man from your postings and you have gumption- I hope you hang in there and end up being a real Lyme activist when you are better- we need you- we really really NEED all the smart people we can get-
because this is a real fight- re Lyme-

and I would hate to read about you in the paper- and have you added to the page- as just one more who didn't make it-

I would much rather be wishing you Happy Birthday in General Support 5 years from now and you checking in to say you are doing great and
have a great life-

yes, Lyme sucks and can make Life suck sometimes too- SO bad- and other people DON'T understand what it is like to be SO sick and in such pain- but here, we understand- really- some of us- who have been *really* bad- like you-

did you know there is a Lymed teens list>? Have you checked it out>? it seems like a great place!!!

best warm wishes,
Sarah

Make peace with the antibiotics your LLMD gives you. They are not your enemy. They are the enemy of your enemy and thus your best friend.

Also, be really ,really grateful that you have one of these increasing scarce individuals we call an LLMD helping you.

It will seem like nothing is helping, and you are just going downhill. Then, one day, you will wake up and realize that you are better.

PLease hang in there.

I promise things do get better.

If I remember correctly from "talking" on chat you also have babesia and that was why your llmd wanted zinthromax.

Besides herxing from lyme you could be experiencing herx from the babesia. I have heard others say that babs herxes can be very nasty.

(If I got you mixed up with someone else please forgive me. by nature I am a face person and it gets a bit difficult for me to keep everyones info to their name)

Like the others said don't give up because things do get better and I promise you they will.

I know I have been so sick at points I felt like I was so far down the hole that I was never going to reach the light...

then I started wondering if there was any light to get to..

but I promise you the light is there and it is waiting for you.

You will get through this.
