Just wanted to check to see if anyone was doing this treatment and how they are doing with it... herxing? Getting better? Ect.

I have been doing 3.5 grams a day for about 2 weeks now, have noticed I am continuesly a little worse than before so it could be a mild/lasting herx... Doing ABX every 2-3 days as well.

It has been suggested by my llmd along with the abx.

i must admit i have not done the research on it.

i just put some sea salt in my bottled water when i think of it...need to be more consistant.

i am doing well with taking vit c capsules.

i have finally got it in my head i need to do it.

i just keep thinking of the time i put some salt on a cell and watched it shrivel up under the microscope.

i had to get over that one and realize it can also possibly kill off parasites which i am willing to kill off.

when i first started taking it i was doing a more consistant job. i did have an elimination that reminded me of the eliminations i had after they tested me for MG and Parkinsons and stuff with the electro stuff.

IT was as if I had been getting a ule gibbons diet of twigs and bark.

ok...tmi...

i also know i am rambling.

very exhausted need to veg.

I didn't think salt kills cells... ?

I have been a member over at the lyme strategies forum or (salt/c) forum and I think just about 99% of people see improvement over time and I have seen stories of people who had been sick for over 20 years are getting well in less than 3 years on it! It gives me a little wink of hope but not much right now I'm in a living hell [bonk] [bonk] [bonk]

I guess you didn't see this three page thread last month:

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=052750;p=1

A lot of people talked on this thread. Some folks have been seriously harmed (cardiac and kidney damage, high blood pressure, edema).

There is a lot of variation in salt tolerance. Your perception that 99% of people on LS get better is incorrect. LS is a money making group, since Marc sells his ebook. Therefore it is not an honest group. Marc promised to research ill effects in folks such as Kurt and me and others I sent him and report back but he never did, after the controversy on LS died down.

I read through that the other day and only saw several people that ran into problems and they did it incorrectly. Everyone talks about I heard about this person or that person had bad problems with it but I havn't seen any of them post on the net about it.I also didn't pay a penny for lymestrategies, I dont know where the money making buisness is in it?

I do think the ramp up should be even slower than what is recommended though...

There is no way on earth 3-8 grams of salt a day is going to hurt anyone that drinks and eats properly. There is good info in the Bible.

MY LLMD who is very down to earth, open minded and into alternative things said that it is dangerous and someone has died from it. He told me to stay away from it.

I personally think 12 grams a day is a little high but anywhere from 1-6 or 8 grams a day cant hurt when ramped up over a LONG period of time... my LLMD likes it, its just opinion. If I never get to a high enough dose to where I am killing the bacteria, atleast they are having a rally hard time surviving and they cant hardly reproduce! [dizzy]

I wish I could find a good way to increase oxygen to my body for not too much money as well... My hollistic DOM (doctor of oriental medicine) studied 6 years in China and is Lance Armstrong's health advisor said this, "No bacteria, parasite, infecton, ect. can survive salt, oxygen, and heat. Those are three things bacteria can't build resistence to!"

Byron,

The people who were told they did the salt/C incorrectly did do it correctly. Because I was one of them, so I know. It did not work for me and when I said so on Lymestrategies I was told I did the process wrong. How the **** would they know?

Biting Back, who used to post here, does the salt/C exclusively and is on the road to recovery, so it does work for some people. She does no supplements. The people on Lyme Strategies are doing all kinds of things to supplement the salt/C, so I don't know how anynone there could know if it truly works or if the supplement are working. Actually there have only been a few true success stories and one of them was Phil from Australia who ate what he wanted and drank what he wanted and didn't supplement.

Nancy, one of the original pioneers just posted that she is doing well and still doing salt/C at high doses. She did not ramp up like they recommend at LymeStrategies. See lymephotos.com

Byron have you tried a water ionizer to add oxygen?

Byron, 8 grams a day can be way too much for some folks. One of the people who wrote me only did 4 grams a day, had a sudden and severe cardiac episode during that, and has not recovered cardiac function in the sixteen months since then. Perhaps you should re-read that thread more closely.

As for limiting your spirochetes, how do you think that's going to happen? So you're taking salt orally, maybe you will limit bacteria in the gut, but what makes you think that for instance your brain tissue and meninges will become so salty that spirochetes won't reproduce? If your brain were that salty you'd probably be kaput.

Hi ByronSBell,

Yes, I am using Salt/C in combination with rife(~4 yrs) and Marshall(1 yr). Salt/C is the latest addition, and it is too early to say if is working well. I will say that there was a noticeable herx the first week of the salt/C and the rife sensation felt stronger with salt/C. I think there can be some synergy developed when using in these techniques in combination.

As oxygenbabe pointed out, I would definitely monitor you blood pressure. Some folks are very sensitive to salt, just like some are to abx or EM Fields. So start slow and be smart.

Note: over Christmas I climbed Kilimanjaro (19,300), tallest peak in Africa. So these alternative techniques are working ( for me at least).
Hope this helps, Ernie

I am keeping a close eye on my BP and it is staying at or below 120/80 all the time. People are improving on the salt/c, you have to be a member to read through the month reports and success stories...

No need to be harsh to me on a lyme disease forum, just looking for people that are on the salt/c protocol... [loco]

I've been doing salt c for a few weeks. The first week I started at 3 g, had a harsh herx and had to back off. Ramping up would have been good.

Protocol says I should be able to do 6g, but am only comfortable at 4, or I can't get enough water in me. I doubt I'll find that I can go much higher.

I read somewhere that one of the benefits of increased salt is that it opens the cell walls to let medications and other support through. Don't remember where I got that though, or chemically how its supposed to work.

I've had to take salt for years, as my adrenals need it, and I have very low blood pressure. For me salt c feels like a very good move, in combination with other treatment.

I muscle test almost everything I put in my body, and my body definately wants this.

From some of my ancient notes:

Several years ago when Salt & C came upon the scene, I asked to Dr. K. to explain the science behind it to me. (I never did the protocol, because I was well already and had no need for it.) But he uses it in practice depending on ART.

His explanations: Salt does not make more water go into the microbe and make it burst - it sucks water out of the microbe and makes it shrivel up.

Bradford quotes research finding that salt increases the enzyme elastase in our tissues which punches holes into the microbes and parasites and makes them vulnerable to our immune mechanisms.

Q: If salt dehydrates the bacteria via osmosis to kill them, then doesn't it dehydrate our body cells?

A: The resistant bugs are L-forms - they have shed their cell wall and have a very vulnerable membrane. This makes them invisible to our immune system, but extremely vulnerable to osmotic gradients. Our cells are very stabil in hyperosmotoc environments - to a degree.

Q: Then drinking lots of water to replenish our body cells would also replenish the bateria's water?

A: Water should be drunken only when the thirst comes. Being thirsty means however that we are already in the hyperosmolar state. So when we drink, it is too late for the critters already. But it is true: do not push the drinking! Wait for the thirst naturally.

Q: What is the purpose of the Vitamin C with the salt?

A. Vitamin C creates a hyperosmolar state also. Both have a synergistic effect, but different chemistry.

Q: Is it the difference between a microbial cell and a mammalian cell? The mammalian cell protects itself - the microbe doesn't?

They are both extremely similar. However, microbes have to modify their cell wall to evade the immune system (see above). Lida Mattman is the world expert on the L-forms (cell wall deficient bugs).

For your info: Dr. K. uses the Salt & C protocol for patients that test well for it with ART. But he uses it several weeks on, several weeks off -- not continuously. If they do not test well for it, it is not done or stopped.

By the way, a sick person, whose autonomic nervous system is off balance, out of balance, should not rely on their own muscle testing. The body cannot give a true answer. And the mental field of the patient testing him/herself plays a major role. I firmly believe in energetic testing, but I would not test myself in that condition or even being well. It's best in a three-some. Yes, it is a comforting feeling if you think you can, but I learned a long time ago that it is a no-no, especially when it comes to this type of treatment. Just thought I would mention it. I learned that early on from Dr. K.

Take care.

P.S. as with any supplement or killing agents, abx, rife or other, with the die-off, heavy metals are released (unless you are a recent transplant from another planet -- ).
So it is important to protect yourself with mop-up agents for neurotoxins. It is also important to assure adequate lymph drainage and other elimination to avoid redestribution of toxins to other body compartments. Then getting well takes forever.

Salt/c got top 3 lyme disease treatments in a recent lyme disease book. It talks about what you just talked about. It has more to do than with just the sodium...

I'm going to get up to 4 grams and stay there for a while...

That is Bryan's book. Overall I think Bryan is intelligent and sincere and good at compiling information. However, he himself could not tolerate salt/c and had kidney pain for several months thereafter which eventually cleared up. Marc claims, and maybe Bryan agrees, I have no idea, that it is due to Bryans' being mercury toxic. What worked for Bryan is rife and Marshall protocol. Marshall protocol has helped some and seriously harmed others (one woman developed psuedotumor cerebri on it). Bryan and Marc are friends.

Be cautious when you evaluate a therapy. Find out who's positive about it and why. Research thoroughly to hear the negatives. I only found out how many people had done poorly, or even been severely harmed, on salt/c after I was hurt by a few days of high doses, and then really went around the internet groups researching. Then many folks came out of the woodwork, and on here too in the other thread.

On a lighter note:

I used to say "my favorite three food groups are salt, fat and crunch" (especially if it was in the form of popcorn). [Smile]

The crunch is interesting because I also have had on and off grinding of my teeth at night. Part of that is from dental work where the dentist didn't get the bite adjusted correctly. But I have also suspected that my body is just not happy about something in the jaw area (infections/ cavitations/ whatever) and so likes the crunch for the sense of "doing something" about the discomfort.

The fat, of course is quick energy. Something that low adrenal function makes us crave.

The salt, as GiGi provided above, is apparently something my body wants in it's ongoing war with microbes.

Not good for every person, but great for me!

I was considering doing salt and C also for the last few years. My RN daughters would not let me. I asked my LLMD,,he said no. Too much at one time will burn a hole in your stomach was his reason.

I have followed all posts omn ls. also and found them 100$ positive,,I thought cant be all bad.

Then I saw the thread they are talking bout just a short time bak,,,saw all the people harmed,,saw the people report no help for THEM.

Now I see I accidently took the right road. NO salt and c for me. I do pop one once in a while for a sleeping pill tho(I suck it like a lolly pop till its all gone and not in a chunk in my stomach, but instead dispersed evenly),,,works better than Ambien for "ME"

BTW, my body loves salt too,,but read ALL the posts before you dive in,,,glad I got that informed info!!

Good luck,,I just found out that all the non-positive posts and posters are kicked off the ls site.

Don wrote:

Beware of that.

I'm someone listed there as SUCCESS STORIES; I never said I got well from lyme due to salt/C, even though I believe I herxed.

I had to quit because of high blood problems and then they listed me in success stories WITHOUT CONSULTING ME!

LS has about 1,400 members, and more than 500 people listed as success stories (a year ago, at least).

I wonder how many success stories are listed there today. Any info on that? Just curiosity.

Hi Byron,

Can you explain your comment about the use of salt in the Bible?

Thanks,

Char

God refers to salt as being a healing device. He tells His people (christians) to go out and be the salt of the earth. I don't remember it word for word but salt is one of the greatest healing therapys we can use.

Even wondered why dogs like their wounds or lick other animals wounds, becuase of the salt in their salive. Also cows never get infections much becuase they love salt. My dad owns a deer ranch/farm and he has salt lick for them, they all are much healthier then what they use to be.

Is anybody curious about the possible death of someone from salt/c (mentioned in this thread).

I'll try to find out about it and post if I learn something that is useful.

If there is indeed a death related to salt/c we need to know.

Did God write the bible and would he take Salt and C if he had lyme disease after hearing that it has harmed some people?
