Has anyone here ever done IM Rocephin? If so, at what dose and what was your experience and outcome? Thanks

Long before I knew for certain that no ten different types of antibiotic in the world alone would make this disease go away: I have done that - can't recall the exact dose (it was small) - but you get a hard butt, even alternating butt quarters, and I promise you, you won't do it for long. Not recommended by Dr. K.

Take care.

Thanks GiGi. I am not personally considering it but someone asked me about it recently and I just want to hear people's experience with it. Thanks for sharing yours... [Smile]

I had a couple of shots with it at the same time to do a urine antigen test. I got a herx from it, and I had a sore butt. Oh, I should add, that I ALSO got a herx 4 weeks later....and then when I started IV rocephin, I followed the same pattern...initial herx at day 12 or so, then another one at 4 weeks. I found it interesting that the IM rocephin did the same herx pattern as the IV rocephin that Dr. B talks about. That's all I remember. [Wink]

Hi,
I have been doing Rocephin injections since mid January. I started with a small dose, 125mgs, then a month ago they upped it to 250mgs per day.

I'm not sure what the other posters are saying. I inject at different spots. I use the top thigh and the side thigh and my hubby does the butt ones when he's home. I rotate sites.

My doctor wanted me to be on IV but that was not feasible for me financially or physically so he said the next best thing is the IM injections.

I can't say whether they help or not since I am not far enough into treatment to tell. I herx and my symptoms are not much better yet. But I've had this disease for a very long time untreated until now. So it will probably be a long time before I can say one way or the other.

Are gallbladder problems as big of an issue when doing IM as they are with IV?
