I got lyme last May. i staryted treatment about 5 weeks after i got it. 200mg doxycycline a day, plus i was on a protocol of herbs and supplements. I eat no sugar or flours of anykind. My diet is protein, veggies, and complex carbs. By mid september my symptoms were merely a inconvenience no big deal....
I got on this site and was reading stuff and i got really scared so i decidied to go to a llmd to make sure. I started going in october, and the doc. told me to stop the herbs and supplements and upped my doxy. Since then i have switched around with differnet abx. I can attest that since goiong to the llmd i didnt get betteer, but kind of stayed where i was which was feeling pretty darn good. Well, 3 weeks ago i hit bottom again. The doc switched my abx again....
I am convinced that the herbs and supplement protocol i was on was working, but at the same time my doc. wont let me do them. what would you do? Should i continue with my llmd, or go back to the herbal protocol? I just dont know what to do , i need advice....

Perhaps find an LLMD who knows about herbs and is open to you using them. Mine is.
I am feeling improvement on Tibetan herbs and I take ABX as well.

My LLMD has me on herbs and supplements in addition to the abx. I agree, find an LLMD who is more open to alternative treatments.
Mine has an herbal protocol, but won't use it on me until my bacterial load is lowered. If you're feeling that good, he may be willing to use it on someone like you.

The only FAIR thing to do... in MY opinion...
Either do as your doctor orders.. or find a new doctor.
Now, I'm NOT saying you are doing this.. but if you decide to take herbs anyway and you aren't telling him what you are doing.. which many folks try that.. then it isn't fair to him. Doctors can't do their best when info is withheld.
And if your doctor can't give you satisfactory reasons for not doing herbs... other than it could jeopardize his practice and his license... then find someone who will consider things you feel will help.

Well, depending on where you are in PA, you could consider seeing Dr. S in NW Pennsylvania - he is known to be well-versed in herbs, abx and supplements. If you post on the Seeking a Doctor forum asking about him, someone will get back to you with his contact info.

In my original post i forgot to metnion why my llmd doesnt want me on herbs. When i first started going i got my first blood work done and my kidney whatever was up on the panel, so my dr. told me to stop the herbs cause they were doing it. I stopped and my kidnye stuff went down, but now it is back up and i am not on herbs, so apparently is wasnt the herbs affter all.
I am going to have a good talk next visit, because i feel very strongly about the herbs and supplement protocol i was on, and if you have faith and intuition in something, ive learned to go with it. My doc. is not anti herbs , just concern they were doing something to my kidneys. I dont beleive that is the case, and my doc has never seen herbs react taht way in anyone before.
