Hi-
I'm thinking about organizing an original art/photography online auction to raise legal funds for Dr. Jones.
I'm an artist myself, and probably have enough contacts in the "art world" to make a go of an auction as is, but would love to hear from artist Lyme-netters willing to part with one of their creations.
Unless waived, each piece would be auctioned with a reserve high enough to cover cost of materials and/or shipping, refunded when/if the piece sells.
I'd love to help out... I can't do "real" art, but I can do cartoons and I paint murals on my kids' bedroom walls... maybe a coloring book for kids?

thanks for the ebay heads up.
i checked out that site and saw that the auctions had been cancelled.
listing the auction on ebay would be a good option to broaden the audience, but i'm not sure if it is possible to have an independent auction there- free of ebay rules and profit taking, etc., which i'd prefer.
in any case, i'd like to have the auction be something more than "just" an auction- more like an "event," to help raise awareness as well as funds.
your idea of a coloring book for kids sounds awesome. i'll be in touch..

Does anyone know if any Lawyers are donating their time to the case? It would be a nice gesture...

vanilla-
that sounds great too- what kind of jewelry do you make?
foggy- don't know the answer to that, but i imagine that there are huge sums of money that have been/will still be required even if some pro bono work is given.
for his sake and for all that is at stake, i sure hope he's getting first rate representation.

What a fantastic idea. I'm not an artist and don't make anything, but I hope that it's a success.

thanks, DLL-
i've been putting some feelers out, and it seems like an idea that has some legs. i'm going to begin putting together a proposal over the next week or so.
meanwhile, i'll be happy to hear from anyone who is interested in donating art --or helping in some other way. )
Vermont- hello again! and thanks!! No rush.. this will take a long while to put together.
You (and anyone else) can tell anyone interested though, that what is common with this kind of thing is to publish a little bio about each artist and the work she/he does. So, when things work right, the artists also ideally get a little publicity for their work. Of course, it the best possible world, everyone will be interested just for the cause itself.
I am also thinking of asking Dr. Jones if he would feel comfortable posting a notice in his office about the auction- asking parents/kids he is treating to contribute a work of art BY the kids to be auctioned off.
Seems like it would be a great way for the kids themselves to help him out. I would bet the farm that many would love the opportunity. plus, one more way of raising awareness about WHY keeping Dr. Jones is so vital to this community.

Bracelets and necklaces I use gem stones and pearls. I use to whole sale to stores but now I want to sell on eBay if I ever figure out how and get that together... If I sell on line I can get more then whole sale which was not doing it for me finacially even if I was in nice stores.
