I've had symptoms for years, crazy, unexplained, on and off, got really bad Aug 06. Go back 10 years, had throat closing trouble, unexplained dizzyness went for a few years, then, swollen lymph nodes mostly in neck (left side). Went to several drs., hematologist (for lymph nodes) evn had one removed and tested...NOTHING, lymph nodes still there. Left neck and left eye (under eye) pain for years...also swollen under eyes. Move forward to last year.....still had dizzy and throat problems, tired, feeling like crap. I've got chills all the time, used to have headache, not sleeping at night, alot of muscle cramps, esp. hands forearms...
Went for physical Feb 06....now high BP and high cholesterol....I'm 32 by the way and live in South Louisiana! I've had back pain (on edges of upper back) for long time.
Now....Aug 06....Left jaw popping constantly, Muscle Twitches started all over.....Sept. 06 - feeling like crap....Researched Muscle Twitches ....of course...ALS scare now. I've been to 5 neuros, inclding final, still seeing ALS specalist in Houston...She says it's not that, but i have very brisk reflexes. Now, muscle wasting, in face, arms and feet.
So, i've researched lyme and i fit alot of the symptoms. (headache, big memory problems, forgetting what i'm doing, who i'm calling, what i'm calling for, I've been branded "mr. forgetful" at work. Muscle twitches (started widespread they are now pogressive and all the time), facial numbness, tongue pain, tongue atrophy, feet shrinking, tired / fatigue, shortness of breath sometimes, ears ringing constantly!!!, used to get blurred vision - gone now, left eye pulling some times, so on and so on)... No weakness, don't remember bulls eye rash.
Based upon Research - sent blood to IGENEX for testing - Results:
Do any of the persons with lyme, have these symptoms, esp. the muscle wasting?
What do you think of the lyme results? IGENEX says that IND should have retest or rely on other test, but others neg.
I had two IND on the IGM on the double star bands, which, are a weak pos and if the fact that both were a +, would have made the test posititve under CDC and IGENEX.
I had one double star IND on IGG, which would have made a pos. test?
sorry for the long post

Welcome Jamiet!
The 41 band could conceivably be from other things (though usually it's not).
However, the positive 30 band is impressive. Same with band 66.
As for your "indeterminates," a short course of antibiotics, followed by a couple-week break and then a retest, would likely light these all up as positive.
Your symptoms sound EXTREMELY lyme-ish.
Good for you for getting an IGeneX test.
I'd be surprised if, after ruling out other diseases (and a good LLMD will, you were NOT diagnosed with lyme.
It's not unlikely that you have a co-infection as well, such as babesia.
It seems imperative that you find an LLMD!!
Post in the "seeking a doctor" section.
Good luck to you!

22: Possibly a variant of outer surface protein C.
23-25: Outer surface protein C (osp C).
28: An outer surface protein.
30: Possibly a variant of outer surface protein A.
31: Outer surface protein A (osp A). 34: Outer surface protein B (osp B).
37: Unknown, but it is in the medical literature that it is a borrelia-associated antibody. Other labs consider it significant.
39: Unknown what this antigen is, but based on research at the National Institute of Health (NIH), other Borrelia (such as Borrelia recurrentis that causes relapsing fever), do not even have the genetics to code for the 39 kDa antigen, much less produce it. It is the most specific antibody for borreliosis of all.
41: Flagella or tail. This is how Borrelia burgdorferi moves around, by moving the flagella. Many bacteria have flagella. This is the most common borreliosis antibody.
45: Heat shock protein. This helps the bacteria survive fever. The only bacteria in the world that does not have heat shock proteins is Treponema pallidum, the cause of syphilis.
58: Heat shock protein.
66: Heat shock protein. This is the second most common borrelia antibody.
73: Heat shock protein.
83: This is the DNA or genetic material of Borrelia burgdorferi. It is the same thing as the 93, based upon the medical literature. But laboratories vary in assigning significance to the 83 versus the 93.
93: The DNA or genetic material of Borrelia burgdorferi.
"In my clinical experience, if a patient has symptoms suspicious for borreliosis, and has one or more of the following bands, there is a very high probability the patient has borreliosis.
The significant antibodies, in my opinion, are the 18, 23-25, 28, 30, 31, 34, 39, 58, 66 and 93."
