sorry to dominate the board here!!

Ya'll know that I have been having these headaches, blurry vision, excruciating ear pain, etc.

Well I went to GP today at 3:00. I told him my symptoms and he said "no wonder. you're bp is 184 over 148." So he gave me a small pill called clonidine, told me to sit. He also took about 4-5 vials of blood.

He noticed my arms being blotchy and red with those petruchia and he asked about those. He's ordering cell counts, CBC, sed rate, all kinds of stuff.

Came back in, BP still high, gave me another clonidine, said wait more. If it didn't come down off to ER.

Thankfully it came down. I wasn't feeling very good.

He felt my BP is acting up, I felt it was lyme. he didn't. He told me to stop ALL meds, vitamins, supplements, everything, except my BP medicine.

I'm to monitor my BP twice a day, take meds and watch diet, etc. If it goes up, then hightail it off to ER. he gave me a prescription for the clonidine in case it goes up.

Here's the sad part. I got home at 6:30. Hubbie asked how it went. Stupid me, I told him.

He started telling me it was my fault, I'm overweight, lazy, don't eat right, if I'd do this and do that, I wouldn't be in this shape..

I just didn't need this, I really didn't. I've been soooo down lately. I was scared half to death cause dad and everyone on his side just dropped dead of a heart attack, my one sister has already had one.

I have been having irregular heartbeats and all, so I'm kind of freaked out.

I just kept saying uh-huh, yeah, ok....he'll never understand, never, not until I'm dead and even then he'll say it's my fault because I don't exercise, I didn't do this, I didn't do that.

What the hell is the use?????

I'm so sorry. I think you need to print out Lymedad's letter and hand it to your husband. And tell hubby HE is making your blood pressure rise!!!!

Lymetoo is right - it isn't helping when your hubby acts like this. Sheesh.

I've been taking a tincture that is helping my heart issues, and it is supposed to be very safe, in fact is often taken along with heart meds. I don't necessarily recommend this, but if you want something natural, this would be an EXCELLENT choice.

It is supposed to be very good for lowering blood pressure (if needed), along with a host of other things to strengthen the whole cardiac system.

It won't work overnight. It is something to be taken long-term, and the benefits will come.

It is Hawthorn Berry tincture, or sometimes called Crataegus Oxycantha tincture or extract. In this county, they tend to use berries, leaves and flowers, but if you can find it, get the one made from just berries. The one I ordered turned out to be more than just the berries.

I've been taking it about a month, and I have had very few heart palpitations. Like maybe 3.

Don't pay attention to the ``dose'' on the bottle - they want you to take way more than you need! I only takes 5 drops in a little distilled water, 2 or 3 times a day. Simple. And pretty inexpensive, too.

Here's an article about Crataegus/Hawthorn:

Hey, why add another drug if you don't have to?

You may have to be on blood pressure meds for awhile, but hopefully, this could be an alternative to get you off them and keep you off them.

my heart goes out to you randibear...

you are NOT lazy... you are NOT any of those dumb accusations that come out of the mouth of the people we love.

I hope he was just shook up and worried...

but I am so, so sorry you didn't get nuture or support when you really needed it.

and then you KNOW that the doctor isn't able to assess your supplements because he hasn't read up on them... so do you take his advice and go off them? ... adding to your anxiety level ...

just what you need when your BP is going up and up. not!

a friend of mine found (with a home BP cuff) that she could restore her sky high BP to almost normal range by simply enjoying a talk with a friend or singing a song to Jesus (her best friend)... simple stuff sometimes actually works.

sure glad you have a place to come to share your tale of woe to... here at the lymenet forums.

peace to your heart.

CO Q 10 will bring your blood pressure down but do not take it with Malarone or Mepron because it keeps them from working as well.

You know, maybe in this case, It is really worth listening to your doc. and giving his instructions a try. I don't think I have heard before your post of Lyme patients having high blood pressure - it is usually very low blood pressure that is the problem with chronic infection. Especially since this runs in your family.

Best wishes.

cortisol. hormones. fight or flight chemicals. "scared to death" and family history. anxiety. stress.

sweet randibear you are in the aggitate cycle of the washing machine of life!

do you have any favorite ways of 'de-stressing'?

the chemical/hormone disruptions are not because you are doing anything wrong.

but there are ways to lessen the anxiety.

pursue peace and let the rest of the junk go... at least for a little while...

Increase your Vit C. My blood pressure rose when I stopped the C (I was taking 3000mg daily)
I started back at 2000mg daily and it dropped right back down from 136/90 to 118/70.

Anneke,
I had very high blood pressure so I am now on medicine for it. I know of 2 other people in my

area that have high blood pressure from Lyme. Wonder if it could be a strain here in the south that is causing it?
