i have a question about pain meds and dental work. i have chronic lyme and am being seen by a NON-LLMD because i have medicaid and live in WV. she is bent

on me NOT having lyme but having fibro/depress/hypochondria..etc..even with positive blood work and all classic psyhological and neurological symptoms..

heres my question..i am having a tooth pulled on thursday by a oral surgeon. i have enough pain meds to last me thro today. i dont see my doc.

till friday- who probably wont refill my script anyway because i dont think she believes my pain is real. i think she thinks im a big baby and wont "tough it out"

soo...i wondering...for wed and thursday, im probably going to be in lyme pain 10 fold plus tooth pulled pain thurs morn.

my fiance's mother has MS and takes pain meds and she takes strong ones than i do, but she said she give them to me and ill take a little bit and it will get my thro the dentist appt.

i will be numbed up for the pulling (hopefully) but im just really nervous about being in double pain.

Do you think it would be alright if i take the stronger pain med. (methedon) i think. and get my tooth pulled?? would that be bad or should i just "tough it out" and see what happens.

im also have a P/T job and go to college full time.
and im totally exhausted and not looking forward to this dental work.

also should i have antibotics before the tooth pulling???

thanks for the advice guys

should have preop and post op clindamycin 150 tib
2days before 3 after.
strongest pain med you should need is vicodin or percocet.

i just called the dentist and he said that i shouldnt need antibotics before hand...im alittle worried about that, i dont think he is a Lyme literate dentist.

also, he said not to worry about the painkillers
( im worried about the painkillers, anti-anxiety meds and anesthia combined)
i guess it should be alright. i just have no experience with this other kind of pain
pill.

mom says his a little stronger but if i take a smaller dose i should be fine.

man o man, i wish there were more Lymeliterate docs and dentists in west virginia (eastern panhandle)

thanks docdave. how can i get the dentist to give me antibotics 2 days before hand?? geez that would be today.

ask him,
tell him this prevents you from getting a lyme
flareup. as long as you can get several dose in befopre extraction then its ok
do not take methadone, it is extremely
dangerous and very hard to get off of.
it is used for drug addicts addicted to heroin.

ok. i will not take the methadon.
but now my surgury is tomorrow.
should i call up there and ask/demand antibotics? and try to pick them up today after work..
would it be thaaaaaat big of a deal
to get them after the surgury?
or is there a serious risk for infection without prevous antibotics?? i have some doxy left over from october.
