Doxy was added to my medicine list last week and I was told by LLMD to use a Zinc based sunscreen. I don't seem to able find one and the nurse who called me back couldn't think of a brand name to recommend. Any suggestions before I crisp?

tube of pure zinc oxide cvs brand 2-3 dollars best safest sunblock. of course your face will be white. this is the only thing that blocks 100% highest i've seen on the market is spf60 might be in store with diaper stuff ask pharmacist

Thanks. For those times that I don't want to go out as Caspar, is there a particular brand you guys recommend that contains a high percentage of Zinc oxide but isn't as dramatic as the white paste?

i use spf 60 and still get burned i use zinc oxide on nose and under eyes.
i also have secondary sjrogren's syndrome.

"When my dermatologist recommended this sunscreen, he cited some studies about how SPF15-30 in practice washes off or wears off and doesn't offer adequate protection. He recommended at least SPF 50 and specifically this product."

Personally I would not go out with out a hat while on doxy. You also need to wear long sleeves, stay covered up, avoid sun & seek shade. You will fry even with sunscreen if you don't avoid the sun.
Dermatone makes clear sunscreen containing zinc oxide. It is sold at most ski mountains. You should also be able to find it in sports shops or online. It comes in various forms, tube, stick and little pocket container. I got a sunscreen stick called California Baby, at Whole Foods Market. It has plenty of zinc oxide but isn;t too white once you spread it on. hats

oh yes the hat and long sleeves don't help unless they are uv protected material. i get mine at the tennis shop made by wilson.
i would guess you can spray the alcohol based produce spf 60 on hat and clothes, i also do this but don't know if it helps. uv rays go right thru normal clothing
