Just wanted to ask all of you: how many weeks or months did it take before you started to feel better on antibiotics (if you did)? And which antibiotic was it?
I wanted to ask because I have been taking this "natural" antibiotic that my ND prescribed me for 5 months with no improvement. I'm starting to think that this stuff is useless.
Thanks!

I started on Mepron, Biaxin, and doxy on Jan. 20. One month later I added Omnicef and Probenecid.
The first month I went from 15% to 25%. The second month I herxed most of the month with the addition of new meds, but after that I was back to 25%.
After my next herx I was up to 50%.
I've been making very clear progress. I'm also taking daily saunas and exercise three or four times per week (whether I have the stregth or not).
My LLMD has an herbal protocol, but he won't use it until the bacterial load is lowered by antibiotics. He also has me on a lot of supplements for immune support, probiotics to counteract the antibiotics, and Nystatin.

First 3 weeks doxy. Felt good for a week. 6 weeks doxy felt like crap. 4 weeks Samento, waste of money. 60 days IV rocephrin, as well as 90 days of Zith, feel great. Herxed really bad by the fourth to fifth day every time but started feeling better after that. Also the 30 day thing, got less intense each time.

It actually took me almost exactly a year to feel even a little bit better.

It took one year before I felt any better whatsoever. Then another year before I felt like I was turning the corner.
Another two years before I was able to stop the abx.
Doing great now!
Biaxin is what began my improvement at year 1.

It has been in stages -- and I still have far to go.
Felt better actually in the first month -- then another improvement at month 5 and 6 -- now at month nine, and started babs treatment. Which seems to have make me feel worse in some ways, better in other ways.

For myself, I knew within a week or so. I had energy, to have a shower. I had undiagnosed lyme and had gone untreated for about 15 years.
I have had 3 times where I had THE right treatment, very much improvement in a short time.
Once with Biaxin/Flagyl
Once with Minocycline
Once with Clindamycin Quinine.
The other antibiotics worked somewhat, but not the quick improvement like these antibiotics, and also the ones that I had much improvement, was
the ones with the WORST herxing.
Babesia herxing was the worst.
Natural antibiotics do not work for me. I tried them.

Did a year's worth of a variety of antibiotics and never felt any better. Perhaps I should have kept on them, but the yeast, digestive trouble, and weight loss were too much. Hiker

Barton, Which natural antibiotic are you on?
How experienced is your ND in LYME treatment ?
I think the single most important thing is to have an EXPERIENCED practitioner in the treatment of Lyme specifically.
There are many great MD's, ND's, etc. that I would see under most circumstances. But for Lyme, the EXPERIENCED practitioner is crucial to your success. And by "experienced" I mean with Lyme specifically. Not just someone who has been practicing with good results for many years.
Hope this helps, robi

This antibiotic is made from bee propolis. Should be strong stuff, my ND got rid of her helicobacteria with it.
She had treated some Lyme patients. The problem is, in this country I don't have many to choose from. We have no LLMDs here.

I have been on ceftin through most of my treatment.
At first, I felt MUCH worse after I started taking antibiotics and herbs. I went from about 20% of capacity to about 18%.
That lasted three or four months. I started feeling a bit better.
Introduced rifampin and got worse again for awhile.
At about 9 months, I was really feeling better and felt a glimmer of hope.
By 18 months, I ranked my improved health at about 75%.
Two months later, I started back to work fulltime.
I'm continuing to take abx (added tindimax as a cyst buster)...and continue to see progress.

I'm just at 6 months of treatment and I feel a little better. I have had a few good days mixed in there, and the doc calls them "glimpses of the future".
Started the first 4 months on doxy (winter time). Now I'm on Omnicef and Diflucan. Herx hard on the Omnicef, but feel better when I'm not herxing.
I guess it's going to take atleast a year before I feel like myself again... Darn. I was hoping that relief was around the corner.
