Is it cheaper to buy it in Canada? Bridges to Access will only give you a 30 day supply for half a dose and my 30 days has ended. It is $160 a month at Costco. My local Costco treats people like they are underneath their shoe in their pharmacy department and I dread going there but I do because I have to pay 99% of my medical bills and meds out of pocket and so far they have the cheapest price I have found for Malarone.

If anyone knows where I can get my Malarone for less please let me know.

Thank you,

Vanilla

Vanilla,
The best price I've gotten is $163.70 for 30 tabs.

Initially, I searched Canada and other places and found it was within $10 bucks of the price I could get locally. It wasn't worth the hassle. They've got this thing all tied up all over the world, it seems.

(I got 16 pills from Bridges to Access to start and can have more in July. 30 if we put in for the extension. It took me 3 months of bull**** to get that.)

If you do find something cheaper, I'd be interested. Or perhaps a few of us can go in for a volume discount. [Wink]

Sorry, no help, Costco was more than my corner pharmacy when I checked prices, originally, but my price has gone up $10 in a few months.

I have no prescription coverage and generally don't fill what I can't pay for. I need the Malarone... I have no choice.

Will thank you for answering and perhaps we could fly to a 3rd world country and round up Malaria victims for our group discount. Hopefully we can go some where with a tropical beach and no ticks or biting bugs.

They do have this thing all wrapped up price wise and what is the deal with Bridges to Access I have to wait a year and more paper work too for my next 15 day half dose supply but they will send one enough free Mepron to take a bath in it and Mepron costs more?

My 30 were $160.61 yesterday. Luckily I only need one a day (half dose) how about you? I am getting overly skinny on this stuff. It is hard to get in touch with my hunger anymore. My pants are falling off.

Yup, I just called Costco and that's the price they quoted me exactly.

I called them (Bridges to Access) repeatedly about the Malarone and spoke to supervisors and then some. They have Malarone listed as a prophylactic for people traveling to Malaria prevalent countries. Mepron is classified as being used for HIV related Lung infections.

They will not change the classification. I did point out that one component was the same drug.

I did think about asking to take Mepron and get the Proguanil elsewhere but it's not approved for use in the US. Seems to me it could be ordered from Canada, etc. I'm not positive if they would ship here or if the doc could, or would, write for it. At last check Proguanil was about $60/month.

Surely, I'm not suggesting anyone do such a thing and haven't mentioned it to any doc at all.

I am also taking one a day. Thank goodness, I for sure couldn't pay for a bigger dose.

My appetite is pretty whacked but haven't lost significant weight (and I could afford to lose a bit). I force myself to eat but lots of things are pretty gross.

I like Malarone way better than Mepron. Mepron made me have bladder problems where I did not want to leave my house/thrown and it made me feel sicker and more depressed which changed for me when I was done with my 4 months of Mepron hell.

It did nothing to get rid of my babesia but perhaps my first bottles before Bridges to Access shipped me some were tampered with.

I have some Meprom left over and I think I will go soak my feet in it for excitement ; - ).

Oooo... what pretty yellow feet you have there, Vanilla!

I don't have problems taking the Malarone as compared to other meds. It's doing something I just don't know what or if it's for the better. I am pretty Babserific, though,

I feel better about not trying Mepron if it had more side effects. Do you think it was the yellow coloring and/or flavoring that made it more difficult?

Aside from the cost Malarone is very convenient.

Did any of you add heparin or art with your babesia meds?

Some people take that stuff for at least seven months. It's almost a given that you relapse.

I'm not telling my daughter that, though. Right now, the first couple of months of mepron have been a nightmare.

Kelmo,
I take Artemisinin and it was suggested I take Nattokinase but am afraid I will bleed on it. I need to discuss it with my doc.

I cannot take Heparin without bruising badly, ok, worse. I used to use the least amount to keep a picc line good and that even doubled my clotting time.

And if I beat the Babs, I have no intention of relapsing! I waited 9 years from a positive test to be able to treat and I'm gonna get 'er done! My minds made up! [Wink]

I have already had my one babs relapse.

It was not just the beautiful color it was the taste smell and everything about the Mepron that made it just out and out disgusting. It was like being in a Mepron golden fog of depression.

My llmd just increased my dose to 3 malarone a day.

It is so expensive. At least cvs is charging me the prices you have listed above.

That made me feel alittle bit better.
