i began treating w/ iv rocephin in dec of '06 (as well as host of other things). last week, i got a series of about 4 - 5 red bump like rashes on my right forearm. they are going away, but today, i got out of the shower and have the same 4-5 round red raised bumps on my stomach. has anyone experienced this? my dr says he has seen this in lyme patients (i have had the disease for years) but doesn't know what it is. anyone have any suggestions?

Are they like red pimples versus big hives? The only reason I'm asking is that ever since being on Rifampin, I've developed these red pimple-like bumps.
Two LLMDs told me they are Bartonella-related, called bacillary angiomatosis. Mine start out as raised but then flatten out and leave bright red marks.
Obviously, Rocephin is for Lyme, not Bart, so I'm guessing that's not it unless you've got untreated Bart that's suddenly coming to the surface.

After five weeks on the IV I suddenly had a teeny tiny blister like rash on my arms, thighs, chest and neck. It wiped me out for about two months. The doctor seemed to think it was a reaction to the medication but I wonder if after five weeks on the IV why this would happen. I've heard a number of other people talk about this type of "reaction" as well.

Oh, I almost forgot. For awhile, before the rash all over, I would get very small blister like bumps on the insides of my fingers. For awhile I didn't think anything about it. I would have one and think I must have burned myself somehow with steam. I could never pin point them and didn't make the connection to the medication. But when I had the all over rash I had about five of them on the insides of my fingers on both hands.
If you have every burned your hands due to steam its a blister that starts under the skin and then rises to the surface. They were exactly like that.
Once I recovered from the "big" reaction they disappeared entirely. It was a mystery to me.
