If after 4 years of treatment you suddenly discover while herxing on mepron/zithro combo that you probably had been bitten by a tick - are you okay?

My LLMD did not return my call. I have found 2 ticks but one was on me and it is really distressing me. BUT I figure since my blood is mostly antibiotics that I should be safe (safe enough anyway.)

Yes I did save the ticks and have sent them on to be tested by our faithful labs.

One was an American Dog Tick and am wondering what do they "LLMD's" really know they carry?

The other looks like the dreaded deer tick but probably adult stage.

So tweeked to see ticks again but I have a horse and I have a dog. Are we supposed to live in a bubble and not enjoy doing what we love?

Sorry see the herx rage & crying jags are atwitter.

Has anyone had a second bite? If so, what did you do after you said "Oh sh!t!!" [confused]

May I suggest you do some serious prevention measures for the areas you spend the most time in? I know you can still be bitten and exposed even after taking precautions.. but rather than having 100 ticks looking for a meal.. your odds are better if there are only a couple.

By the way.. when tick counts are done... for every ONE tick they find.. another 100 are said to be there.

As for the new bite.. you might want to consider a new round of Doxycycline?

It should help with most of the coinfections and Lyme. Call the doctor back and press the issue.

That would be MY suggestion.

I am NOT a doctor... and these are my opinions only.

I think you should be alright if you are already on antibiotics... I would not sweat about it

I got bitten on the thigh after 4 months of IV Rocephin and then 4 months of Zithromax. My LLMD said I could "wait and see," since I was already on meds OR I could start Doxy. He said that Zith would cover certain TBDs and Doxy would cover the other stuff (ie: erlichiosis/headaches).

Don't know if I ever suffered from the second bite since I was herxing like crazy anyway.

The piece of mind was important to me, so I started the Doxy...no worse for the wear...no less intense herxing either!

Good luck in your decisions; I know this is really anxiety-provoking.

Best,

I know the feeling...and the frustration. Hubby has had 3 bites over the last couple of weeks. We've treated the yard twice alredy, but the ticks keep winning.....

Drives me crazy.

I was bitten again after thinking that I was almost well....It had been five years of orals and 9 months of IV...I was excited..

I was reinfected with lyme and babs WA1. bulls eye rash, etc...Dog walking with me was infected with lyme.

My doc changed my meds immediately to go after the WA1 and try to keep the lyme at bay.

This is why I think most of our population will eventually be infected, unless we get control of this, because we can't all stay indoors, we are going to be exposed in all 50 states, and there really is not much control except for preventive techniques to avoid the ticks, yet who really does all they need to 100% of the time?

I'm so sorry you are going through this, I hope your blood would just zap those ketes!
