Ok, I posted this in my GENERAL post a few days ago and so far no comments. So, I figured it would be ok to put in MEDICAL. Maybe someone can help me out. This is part of what I posted:
quote: I left for tennis when I got off the bus from school and played for a little over 3 hours and got home so tired I fell out as soon as I walked in the door. And then woke up early for school.
Today we didn't have tennis. I am so sore and tired. Here lately I am so tired all the time. I really want to sleep constantly and when I go to sleep I wake up just as tired or more tired than when I went to bed.
Today I slept during 5th period and on the bus home and went to bed when I walked in the door. I am ONLY up now because I have several tests tomorrow and really need to study because I have been doing worse and missed classes alot lately.
Ok, now to my question, during exercises Monday, we didn't run or nothing we just did leg stretches and stuff and my heart was pounding out of my chest. My legs went numb and felt shaky and felt unstable. And yesterday my legs were ok, but my arms felt weird. They felt numblike, but not completely. They were both scary moments. So, I thought I would ask if anyone has ever had this happen.
And I still don't know anything about my heart. The test is a week from this Monday. Hopefully, I will know then. I just got scared it had something to do with that. Because my heart was pounding so hard and I didn't really get tired or anything my heart just started beating faster and harder. And we didn't do any cardio. Just slow leg stretches.
But, playing I didn't get tired at all and my heart didn't beat like that playing.
I have to go again tomorrow and Friday is try-outs! I can't wait! I was so nervous, but it was th greatest thing ever!
Also, I am having a hard time reading. We are reading a lot in English now and I can't focus to read. And I notice all these little noises and they bother me and I can't work. And then when I do read I mess up the words and it takes me longer.
Also, I have been messing up when I talk too. I will be talking and my words come out all backwards. For example, I asked a friend," Why was your mom late yesterday?" It came out, "Why was your mom yesterday late?"
I do that alot. I say words wrong or say the sentence backwards when I know what I want to say it just comes out wrong. Strange! It is strange to me and I do it alot now and my friends just laugh and I laugh to, but on the inside it kind of scares me because I do it a lot.
I am starting to notice little things and I feel like I am being overprotective of myself. I can't tell simple things from things that be big. Like the things I just asked about. So, I don't know anymore what is 'normal' and what isn't.
So, if you have any advice I would really appreciate it!
Ok, well that is it. I would really appreciate any advice. Also, you may think I can't be 'SICK' or whatever and play TENNIS, but I have been working through so much pain and fatigue. But, I love it and I am not giving it up no matter what.
I just don't want anyone thinking that nothing can 'possibly' be wrong if I am ABLE to play TENNIS. But, I have been dealing with a lot. And right now, it is the ONLY thing that makes me happy. I stay depressed and playing something I LOVE helps me loosen up and enjoy something for a change, even though I am so incredibly sore during and when I get done playing.
Ok, just to clear that up before someone mentions it.
Well, I am venting again, so, thanks in advance for the help!

Christi, the symptoms you listed are all symptoms which can be caused by lyme infection. My son had all the symptoms you list. At times he had great difficulty reading, hard to focus and would often lead to migraines.
The bacteria has entered the sections of the brain that control speech, hearing, etc. Are you seeing a good doctor and being treated ?

I feel extremely sad for you right now because you are deteriorating rather quickly due to being feasted on by Lyme (and possible co-infections) and you and your parents are just standing by and letting it happen. PLEASE CHRISTI PLEASE! Get some help. You could die Christi, do you realize this??? You know that I am around your age, and my parents were the same way where they only listened to the doctors and not me when I found out some new information. It didn't take them long to come around though. But the difference is is that I never discovered that I had Lyme Disease, and you have! Christi, do you know how scary and how fragile your life really becomes when you start having heart problems?!?! You could be living today and then decide to run with your friends tomorrow on the school track and collapse. Christi, you've said it yourself, this is SCARY. Have you told your mother about this? Do you have an open dialogue with your parents? I know your family is finacially strapped, but the only thing that you would really have to worry about is the cost of the doctors visits because there are free pharmaceutical programs out there that do help if you meet a certain requirement (or lie a little). Ask your parents, BEG your parents to give this a chance. They love you, but beg them to find a way to help you! I do have one thought though as to how to get the DUCKS to see for themselves that you have Lyme Disease. When you see your ID duck next, ask about a spinal tap. This isn't pleasant, and its probably going to hurt like hell, but Lyme is more times than not often detected in spinal fluid. And it doesn't neccessarily take a special lab to test the fluid, although you would get a more definitive answer if one did.
Please Please Please get some help!

Ok, thanks. I am not going to my ID duck again. That was the last time for him. Right now I am going to a cardio and supposed to go to a Ped. Rheumy. But, my parents have left the decision of the second on up to me. Because I have told them it is a waste of time and money and he can't help me. But, then maybe he could. Not likely though.
But, they said it was up to me. But if I don't, my other ducks don't know where to send me next. My dad did say it was sort of the end of the line if I don't go. UNLESS, I had some idea of where to go.
Which I was glad he said this, but then we got to blockbuster and got in a big argument about Lyme.
He said he was sort of hoping I would have it and I said, "Why can't I?"
He said because the test was negative and the nurse said so on the phone. I tried to set him straight about that and it made me really upset. I told him I would have to go to a 'special' duck who treats Lyme to see if I have it, not some stupid test run here.
So, I am not sure what to do. Or what to say.
I just don't know. I will have to think about it. And I am venting. Goh. Sorry.
Anyways thanks for the replies.

Okay, then I have another idea for you. Go to the website for Igenex and order a blood testing kit. It is free of charge and they will send it out fairly quickly to you. Once you have it, beg your parents to monetarily allow you to do this. Also present blood testing information that such esteemed doctors like Dr. Burrascano have written (I am not sure exactly who other than Doctor Burrascano has written up information on blood tests, but look on ILADS, LDA, CALDA, and Google). Keep trying Christi, keep trying. Your life depends on it.
I'm not giving up on you!

Feeling extremely tired could be from non-refreshing sleep. Meaning, you may not be reaching the 4th(? not sure if that's right) stage of sleep. That's just a stab in the dark, because fatigue as such can be caused by a multitude of things. Stress, diet, illness, unrefreshed sleep, sleep disorder, a combination of the above, etc. etc.
The heart thing could be mitral valve prolapse...which I have and have experienced what you describe. Low blood sugar can also cause your symptoms. As can low blood pressure.
Brain fog can be attributed to an underlying condition, i.e. Lyme, heart stuff, fatigue and more. If you aren't getting refreshing sleep, that can royally screw with your cognitive clarity.
Naturally, these are just possibilities. Hope this helps.

I haven't had refreshing sleep in a while. I always wake up feeling like I need to go back to sleep. The 4th stage is correct. Technically it is called REM sleep. (Rapid eye movement) It is the stage of sleep were you dream. The stages repeat over and over until you wake up.
Some peoples sleep disorders are caused from the brain not reaching REM (stage 4) sleep.
I would have to agree with you. I don't think I am reaching that either. Hince the non-refreshing sleep.
I am to the cardiologist next Monday the 21st. So, I should know something then about my heart.
Well, thanks for the opinions!

Hi, just wanted to let you know that there are 4 stages of sleep and then REM sleep. REM is sometimes considered the 5th stage of sleep. Stages 3 and mostly 4 are considered where you get restorative sleep. This is when you are basically paralyzed. In REM, your eyes move (Rapid Eye Movement), so you are not paralyzed.
I see this mistake made often when referring to the stages of sleep....
FYI, some antidepressants actually help by increasing the amount of stage 4 sleep. Many antidepressants decrease REM sleep;hence you spend more time in the other stages of sleep.
Goodluck!

Oh, sorry. You're probably right. I learned this in Psychology, but I have memory problems. I'm sorry.
Anyone?
I am SOOOOO tired. I am always TIRED and NEVER FEEL GOOD. I always have a headache and a stomache ache and I am so tired all the time. And today I haven't eaten because I haven't felt like it and I haven't felt the need to eat so I haven't.
Any ideas? Other than the obvious.

I just want to add that aerobic exercise is not a good idea if you have active Lyme. It will wipe out your immune system and t cell function will be decreased. You should not be doing aerobic exercise like tennis until you are fully recovered.
