Hi everyone,

Very scary now, no pharmacists open, too late.
Can an allergic reaction to an antibiotic happen 2 months after taking it?
Did not eat anything different.

Red hives, heat feeling, and big blotches on inner arms, never had this before. Little hives on legs too. Feel stomach hot as well and breathing not so great.

The left innter arm has this hive about 2 inches by 6 inches. then spotty small ones around the inside arm, not on the outside of arm,
the other arm has several tiny hives, and the rest blotchy skin.

Hives, from an anitibiotic, never had them before. Could this be an Allergic reaction
to the tetracycline 2 months later?

I have been on tetracycline for over 2 months, not getting that much better.

Never had hives like this before, could it be a reaction to the tetracycline? breathing not so good to.

i thought allergic reactions were something that happened right away, not 2 months being on the drug.

I took 2 tetras at 6pm it is 10pm now.

thanks,

Trish

trisha,

how about calling your LOCAL HOSPITAL; i think someone is there in pharmacy at ALL HOURS!

i'm going thru my lyme rash again for past week; no hives, but red, itching, HOT TEMP constantly.

i've been using corn starch powdered on it; others bath in it to help them! good luck to you. [group hug]

Thanks Betty.

Hives gone this Am and itching, has anyone else had this happen?

I called the Pharmacist and he said that it could be from the Tetracyline, but was more feeling it may not be, but some had had this

happen after being on an antibiotic for a few months or so, and to stop it and call the Dr, and
to then restart it in 2-3 days to see if it happens again and to

have the antihistamine on hand.

I had taken the tinidazole at about 2 pm, then took the tetra at 6pm, I had the rash and hives at about 10pm. I am feeling it is the tetra, or

I wonder if it could be a herx? Really scary, my breathing was affected as well, I used inhaler
but the breathing was not as bad as the actual swelling of the HUGE hive on the left arm.
HUGE hive, I am lucky the breathing did not get

any worse.

Wonder if this happened to anyone else?
I have to call the LLMD, but it is the weekend.

In all the time of taking antibiotics, I have never had this happen to me.

Trish

My post may not be in total line with yours but I did want to share something that has happened to me a few times and I just started making sense of it.

Over my years of being ill, I have had instances when my whole body would turn very red and sensitive, sort of burning and clothes would be very irritating.

I used to try to explain it as something I ate or some med I was taking but nothing really seemed to fit. I am allergic to benedryl but can take another antihistimine, hydroxyzine, and that usually would help the redness and sometimes whelps I got for no certain reason.

A few weeks ago, I was playing an online game that took a lot of concentration and hand/eye coordination. My success in the game influenced others who were playing with me online.

I became very nervous....the game got very intense and I finally had to quit playing. About an hour later, I noticed my arms were very red. I looked at my body and it was red everywhere and burned some. I couldn't stand the tag at the neck of my shirt on my skin.

Then it came to me...no new meds, no reaction from plants....BUT I had been in an aroused state and what happens then???? ADRENALIN!!!!!

I also had a non-productive cough I hadn't had earlier in the day. I called my LLMD's nurse and asked her about it.....she said that, yes, indeed getting over-stimulated can cause such a full body rash. Other people get it on their upper bodies.

That is why, besides the fatigue, that many of us cannot exercise very long. Our adrenals are burned up and anything that causes them to put out MORE adrenalin can cause body rash.

Maybe some of you have had this happen to you or maybe you have had Lyme rashes and they may be more related to stimulation of the adrenal cortex in our brains.

Just my experience...

Janet
